The Unity Calling concept came about in 2004 when John Edward Snook whom was formally a DJ decided that playing other peoples records was just not enough.
Being influenced by UK dance culture from a young age John got carried away by the Hard House scene in the UK around the turn of the millennium. Together with his friend Jaywes they found them selves a Djing residency in the heart of Southampton England. After the scene took a nose dive around 2002-2003, John found it hard to get the records that he really wanted to play.
2003 was a waking call for John as the west had just waged war in the east and for personal reasons really felt like he needed to do something more with his life. In reflection to all that was going on he came up with the Unity Calling name and decided to focus on creating music with a deeper more purposeful meaning.
After spending 4 years working with other people and learning the art of producing he had created several tracks which were held on https://www.tradebit.com a site hosted by Funender music. As his sound started to progress he teamed up with other producers and needed a fresh start. Knowing that removing the old material from the site would upset some people he decided to compile it on CD and brought us the Unity Calling ‘History’ album.
John together with Jaywes and Deeko hope to take the future of their music into a more cross genre sound with the influence of brit pop, electro house, breaks and trance going under the new name of Freshfield. Unity Calling remains now as a promotional site for the new age movement and a place where John hosts his own personal art and music.
