The initials of these Latin words and formula are the results of the name VITRIOL.
Quondam VITRIOL was already known as iron- and copper VITRIOL, which from the alchemists manufactured sulphuric acid to treat the metals. VITRIOL is as well an alchemistic symbol expressing the process of metamorphosis, thus the legendary conversion of plumb to gold, referred to human being as the path from the dark and sick to the light, health and realisation. This process is nothing else than the mystic way to reach the absolute state of mind.
In the year 2000, ANGELO D’ANTONIO and GIUSEPPE COTTONE met in a famous record store called MANIAK in Lausanne, Switzerland. Shortly they realised that they were sharing the same taste in music as much as their childhood dream: to turn their ideas into musical creations.
In 2003 they acquire future member of the band ENZO DI CAPRIO. After his return from London in the year 2000, with a diploma as a professional make-up artist in his hands, ENZO is entirely focused on his own successful Hairdresser’s shop in Neuchatel, Switzerland.
Thanks to his artistic agility he gets the urge to allay his musical thirst. The acquaintance of vocalist EVELINE MOLLA leads to the creation of his first album with his own trip-hop project MÔ INC.
A strong alchemy connects the members of the band VITRIOL.
The three Mediterranean musicians unify their talents to a rhythmic magic and produce rich melancholic and pensive compositions. The voice of singer and author GIUSEPPE COTTONE reminds us of DEPECHE MODE lead singer DAVE GAHAN. The content of the lyrics, as lugubrious as the musical interpretation, reflect in most cases effectively experienced situations.
ANGELO D’ANTONIO, ENZO DI CAPRIO and GIUSEPPE COTTONE manage to reconstitute with their band the truthful and significant value of the magic formula V.I.T.R.I.O.L.
