Quickly establishing themselves in the forefront of its generation, the Zodiac Trio has stirred enthusiasm in critics and audiences alike. Since its inception in 2004 at the Manhattan School of Music during their student years, the young ensemble has presented concerts throughout the United States and Europe. Top prize winners at the International Peninsula Young Artists Festival, the Joyce Dutka Foundation for the Arts and the International Chamber Music Competition of New England, the Zodiac Trio recently helped launch an annual music festival in Southern France, and their performances have been broadcast numerous times on New York’s WQXR. In an effort to enhance the concert-going experience, in addition to trios, the Zodiac Trio programs sonatas, solo pieces and original arrangements that vary from the Baroque period to Tangos. The Zodiac Trio aims to expand the boundaries of the standard classical music performance and
invite a varied audience to enjoy and share this genre of music-making.
VANESSA MOLLARD, violin
Vanessa Mollard has appeared as soloist with the Gent Symphony Orchestra, Geneva Philharmonic, Marseille Symphony
Orchestra and the Monte-Carlo Symphony, and has worked with Pierre Boulez, Mstislav Rostropovich, Kurt Mazur and Jean-
Claude Casadesus. As a pioneer of new music, Ms. Mollard has collaborated with renowned composers Nicolas Bacri and
Laurent Petigirard, whose compositions she premiered. A recipient of the Princess Grace of Monaco Foundation sponsorship, she has participated in master classes with prestigious teachers such as Olivier Charlier, Patrice Fontanarosa, Gerard Jarry, Roland Daugareil and Ivry Gitlis. Ms. Mollard holds a Diploma from the Royal Superior Conservatory of Gent, a First Prize from the Marseille Conservatory, which she obtained at the age of sixteen under the tutelage of Pierre Hommage, a Bachelor Degree from the Manhattan School of Music where she was a pupil of Patinka Kopec and a Performer Diploma from Indiana University Bloomington where she studied with the legendary Franco Gulli and Emile Naumoff, last student of Nadia Boulanger.
RIKO HIGUMA, piano
Ms. Higuma has given solo recitals and played in chamber music concerts throughout the United States, Europe, Russia,
Argentina and her native Japan. Recipient of the top prize at the Jacob Flier International Competition, Ms. Higuma has
participated in music festivals around the world, including the Nagano-Aspen Music Festival, International Academy in Russia, Merano Fest and LaJolla Music Society Summerfest where her live performance was broadcast on NPR’s Performance Today. She was one of the Young Artists for the Van Cliburn Piano Institute in Fort Worth in the summer of 2002, where she appeared with the Fort Worth Symphony under Edward Browne. Her collaboration in chamber music performances has included such distinguished artists as Albert Markov, Cho-Liang Lin, Alan Gilbert, Charles Curtis, Steven Tanenbom and Timothy Eddy among others. Ms. Higuma holds a Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Manhattan School of Music where she was a student of Phillip Kawin.
KLIMENT KRYLOVSKIY, clarinet
"Kliment Krylovskiy played with easy facility, a vibrant tone, and radiated lots of expressiveness and exuberence" states the New York Concert Review of the Russian born clarinetist. Recipient of the Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarship to support a residency in Paris, Mr. Krylovskiy has given recitals throughout the US, France, England and Russia and has had his performances broadcast on radio and television including New York’s WQXR. A laureate of the Tunbridge Wells International Young Concert Artists Competition, the Lakeshore Wind Ensemble Young Artist Competition and the Couer d’Alene Symphony Young Artist Competition, Mr. Krylovskiy serves as the assistant principal of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas and
has appeared as soloist with the Couer d’Alene Symphony Orchestra and the PAI Jazz Ensemble, among others. Mr.
Krylovskiy has studied with Eli Eban at Indiana University in Bloomington, Michel Luthiec at the International Music Academy of Nice and David Krakauer at the Manhattan School of Music.
