MP3 Allan Douglas - Lipstick Pickup
At times a lushly orchestrated sonic soak, at others a fiery, propulsive rocker. Fans of Tom Petty, the Beach Boys, surf instrumentals and well-crafted ''60s pop in general should find a lot to like here.

Details:
Allan Douglas makes "pop art" music. It''s proud, unabashed guitar pop -- stressing melody and lyric, structure and style -- that embraces the sonic & emotional layers and colors found in reliable creative expression.
As a teenager in south Florida, Allan discovered his father''s music collection which read like a who''s who of celebrated melodic rock from the ''60s & ''70s: Beatles, Beach Boys, Fleetwood Mac, Phil Spector, Bob Dylan, The Band, Bee Gees, The Ventures, Tom Petty, Simon & Garfunkel, Everly Brothers, Zombies . . . . This education provided a template from which to work and naturally, inspiration followed through high school, college, and beyond.
Allan continued absorbing songs & musical styles that moved & inspired him: from surf he found shoegazer, from rockabilly he found soul. All music that is raw, passionate, personal, intense.
With these influences and ideas in mind, he set out to make his own individual stamp on "pop art." With help from many friends, Lipstick Pickup was recorded over the period of nine months, and will be released in 2007 on independent label Photograph Records. Described as "warmly cinematic," "a sonic soak," and "Beach-Boys-meets-Weezer," the album will be available through iTunes and other online music sites.
