Chest Rockwell consists of Josh Hines (vocals, guitar), Nick Rouse (drums), Nick Stewart (bass, keyboard), and Seth Wilson (guitar). The band was formed in Bowling Green, KY in July of 2004 by long time friends and previous musical partners Josh, Nick, and Stewie (adding Seth in the fall of 2005).
Chest Rockwell''s recording and CD release history is a bit of a conundrum. 8 songs were written and recorded on a 4-track by Josh over the winter of 2003/2004 and released under the Chest Rockwell name in February of 2004. After formation of the band 4 new songs were recorded in the fall/winter of 2004 that were made into a free promo release distributed in various places in Germany and France. The same 4 songs were later packaged with 2 live songs and a home recording of another song and released as an April Fool''s Day show give-away. In August of 2005 Chest Rockwell recorded 5 new songs to be packaged with the previously recorded 4 and 1 bonus track and finally released the full-length album "Back to Square One" on December 20th, 2005. The track "Y''all Are Dude" from "Back to Square One" has since been released on 2 compilations, one being a double-disc from Bowling Green, KY called "Tracks from the Trunk" and the other being from Nashville, TN titled "Nashville Rock Vol. 1."
Shortly after "Back to Square One" was finished a 4th member, Seth Wilson, was added on guitar to help capture the sound of the album and to help take the band in a new direction. In the midst of a non-stop show schedule promoting "Back to Square One" Chest Rockwell wrote a plethora of new songs for the next album. In late July 2006, the album "Chest Rockwell Vs The World" was recorded, consisting of 8 songs that all tie together for a giant piece of music lasting over 40 minutes long. "Chest Rockwell Vs The World" was officially released March 2nd, 2007 and the band has played shows nonstop to promote the album.
Amidst the promotion for Vs The World, Chest Rockwell has already begun writing and recording songs for a 3rd album. There are plans for an E.P./single to be released later in 2007 as a prelude to the 3rd album and also to include some unreleased material.
Chest Rockwell is very optimistic about the future and have sworn themselves to making meaningful music regardless of not having record label support.
