Details:
Michelle Chenard''s connection with her audiences isn''t difficult to understand...her powerful voice, dynamic performances and captivating stage presence have won her faithful legions of fans statewide. In particular, she''s established a stronghold of ardent admirers throughout northern Michigan over the past several years, a direct result of her engaging performances at area venues and festivals; from the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City to the Grand Marais Music Festival in Michigan''s Upper Peninsula to any one of a number of high-profile venues in Petoskey, Harbor Springs and Bay Harbor.

Michelle started her musical career in high school, performing with various local bands before re-locating to Florida, entertaining at several Disney properties and resorts, and traveling throughout the southern United States. Several successful tours in Europe followed, and she eventually landed on the east coast, showcasing at such venerable venues as CBGB''s in New York City and The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

After several years in the New York metropolitan area, Michelle decided to move closer to her roots and her family, bringing her back to her native northern Michigan. She soon became the driving force behind the popular northern Michigan group Leavin'' Dodge, releasing three CD''s and opening for such national acts as Collective Soul, Reba McEntire and others. In 2001, she decided to go solo, and the summer of 2002 saw the release of her first solo record, "4", along with the single "Ordinary Time", both of which received college and regional airplay, garnering rave reviews from fans and press alike. Since then, she has been gaining attention with her songwriting and was asked to contribute to "Standing Together", a collection of songs from Michigan artists to benefit at risk children in Grand Rapids and the annual "A Winters Tune" concert in Grand Rapids.

Michelle''s latest CD, 39 Drops, was released March 25, 2005 and has further solidified her reputation as a talented songwriter and performer.

Northern Express Weekly:

MICHELLE CHENARD * 4

Petoskey-based singer/songwriter Michelle Chenard stretches her musical muscles on a new four-song EP, 4, pushing beyond the folk rock of her former band, Leavin'' Dodge.

Three of her songs, "Ordinary Time," "Waiting" and "To Be Still" are in the mode of contemporary urban music without a hint of Northern Michigan''s rural roots. Chenard explores the same territory prowled by Sade, Diana Krall and Mary J. Blige, with hints of penthouse jazz, a trace of electronica, and smoky dance grooves delivered with a sexy, understated voice that is half growl, half purr. These are seductive songs, and if Chenard plans to use the CD as bait for pop gold with a major label, then it would appear that she''s fishing in promising waters.

The penultimate tune is "Fabulous," a grunge-inflected rocker with shades of Joan Jett and some interesting effects delivered with a feather-light touch. Chenard has an instinct for delivering the nuances of her songs to the ripping point of perfection, with care taken not to push past the membrane of excess. Each song seems a perfect soufflé¢.

As a member of Leavin'' Dodge during the late ''90s, she opened shows for Collective Soul, Reba McIntyre, among others, but Chenard opted for the solo route in 2001. With the release of 4, perhaps she''ll cast her net even further.
