MP3 John Fahres - Simple But Effective

Solo acoustic rock and roll from Baltimore, MD.

8 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Folk Rock, ROCK: Acoustic

Details:
John Fahres arrived on the Mid-Atlantic music scene in the early 1990''s, bringing a sound that has been described as ‘combining 1950''s rockabilly flair with flourishes of contemporary style’, with ample turns given to roots-rock, pop, folk, and even punk along the way. However, consigning him to ‘singer/songwriter’ status would be a mistake. His performances merge elements reminiscent of Elvis Costello, Tom Petty, and Barenaked Ladies.

John has spent the past two decades honing and crafting his writing and live performance skills while touring the East Coast bar and club circuit. In 1997 John embarked on what he calls ‘The Perpetual Solo Tour’ playing 5-7 shows a week in the Mid-Atlantic US.

Having played from Richmond, Virginia, to upstate New York, John has a wealth of live experience to back up his writing and performances, including sharing the stage with such varied artists as: Pat McGee Band, Peter Mulvey, SR-71, Kyf Brewer, Jonasay, Greg Kihn, Cliff Eberhardt, Last Train Home, Kelly Bell, and others. His resume also includes numerous college performances, benefit shows, and showcases.

John released his debut solo effort in July 1999. TRUE STORIES, TOTAL FABRICATIONS is a 12-song collection of tales both real and fictional, found on his own BURKESONGS RECORDS label. John’s new CD, Simple But Effective, was released on January 13th, 2007.

John is also the organizer of a benefit concert series in Baltimore, MD, called PASSING THE TORCH (https://www.tradebit.com). These shows, hosted annually, pay tribute to major New Wave artists while raising money for local charities. He also runs Burke Songs Promotions, dedicated to bringing Irish and Scottish rock music to the Baltimore music scene.
