In the new age of Myspace music, with over 9000 fans strong and 130 000+ plays, The Hemingway Solution, have only just begun to mark their territory in the online music world. They have wowed audiences from Toronto to New York to Los Angeles. They have pulled off publicity stunts in the back of a cube van crashing big concerts. They have received airplay, been interviewed by and played showcases for the second most listened to radio station in the world, 102.1 the EDGE. Recently they performed as part of the Steam Whistle Indie Club to a capacity crowd that spilled out on to the street at 102.1 the EDGE studios on Yonge St. Following their BIG show last June as part of the North by NorthEast Music Festival they have big plans for the future. For The Hemingway Solution, this is only just the beginning.
Born and raised in Canadian suburban idle-hood. The Hemingway Solution, a brotherhood, are 3 lads who speak the truth about their lives and spread their ideals through honest lyrics and powerful melodies. The rock/post hardcore trio of George, Dave and Pete has come along way in the 4 years they have been playing together. Armed with their debut, "Life Sold Separately" (2005), they have turned heads playing to packed houses across North America including: the Opera House and Lee''s Palace (Toronto), the Note (Chicago), Room 5 (Los Angeles), CBGB''s (New York). They have enjoyed airplay from SIRIUS Satellite Radio as well as Toronto’s major rock station CFNY 102.1FM. They have been receiving great support from the station with on-air interviews, plugs and spots on the national showcase: EDGE NU Music night at the Horseshoe Tavern. College and internet radio stations across Canada and the United States have also come on board spinning various tracks from the EP. Furthermore, THS were the spokespeople for the Canadian Hearing Foundation with an animated feature playing in elementary schools across Canada.
The boys from The Hemingway Solution have accomplished this through hard work, perseverance and continually writing great songs. They have even created their own publicity with such stunts as crashing a Sloan concert for the University of Toronto frosh, sneaking past security and playing in the back of a cube van to the entire audience. The crafty craftsmen, self proclaimed as the "world''s smartest idiots". They are a definitive indie band.
Their motto is simple, "do it - or die". Much like the acclaimed author, from who''s death they derived their namesake. "Hemingway''s life personified the ideal which we hold sacred. He was unafraid to pursue the things that he loved and he spoke purely and honestly without fear." says Dave Guthrie (bassist), and smiling he adds "that, and he liked to have a good buzz going all the time."
Currently they are in the studio working on new material with producer Brian Moncarz (the Junction)
