PETELSHOT is not your ordinary band...Take one listen to their recorded material or see one live performance and you’ll understand why. They are a band that has continually pressed the boundaries of its sound. A pioneering blend of soulful melodies, hard rock riffs, and true school hip-hop rhymes that radiates energy evocative of the golden era of music where artists did it for the love and creativity was primacy.
The PETELSHOT sound is a myriad of styles, with influences varying from gritty street corner rhymes, to rocked out grooves mixed with the pure emotional strings of classical violin. Even with such broad influences, they still manage to seamlessly blend together all these elements to create one epic sound. They approach the creative stage of producing music with a relentless effort to be sure that each element fits perfectly.
PETELSHOT approaches the creative process a number of different ways. "There are times when I may write a hook, bring it to the guys, and then we build around it..." Says Pete, Lead vocalist/guitarist. "... or, there are other times when Dave (drummer) and Tony (bass) may have a basic sequence they feel we can build on in rehearsal so we rock from there with Ray and Ant (emcees) usually vibing off the drums and letting the rhymes be the driving force behind the record." Whatever the process, PETELSHOT always manages to find that genuine creative balance to make all their records sound natural. They attribute that to the guidance of their production company, Nastrak. "Stos and Jao (Nastrak) are veterans…and they are the ones who harness the creativity into the cohesive structure that eventually become PETELSHOT songs." says Katie (violinist)
Since coming together PETELSHOT has continued to perform in venues all over the tri-state area gathering a diverse and loyal following. With an eclectic blend of different musical genres, the group has managed to reach a wide array of people and that’s evident in the crowds they draw. As innovative as the PETELSHOT sound is, it still manages to strike a universal chord that people from all walks of life can relate to and that’s what makes them special. Uniqueness is achieved when one pushes oneself beyond boundaries into areas uncharted and PETELSHOT is definitely on that path to uniqueness.
