Details:
Singing and writing songs are just the tip of the iceberg for modern rock artist Chris Graham. He also plays guitar, bass, drums and keyboards and masterfully handles all the instruments on his debut CD, Every Day Has An End. To top it off, he produced the 10-song recording in his home studio in Toronto. "Since it was my debut CD, I wanted to make sure I did it right, so I spent the last year and half on it." says Chris, who is also an award-winning film composer.

With his strong voice and clever lyrics, Chris pulls inspiration from a variety of sources from globalization ("Gone American") to genetically modified food ("If I Knew What It Was") to pepper as the old gold ("Peppercorn Grave") to the usual bouts with love ("Tip Of The Iceberg"). His tongue is often planted in his cheek. "Like Nirvana said, ''The lyrics can be less important, as long as the tune and hook are there,''" says Chris, who has even written an admittedly "frivolous" pop song about how Eddie Vedder inspired a slew of rip-off singers in "Ono Eddie." But even if some of his more politically-motivated material goes over people''s heads, Chris welcomes the challenge of writing about unusual topics in a pop format. "I find it way easier because I have a focus and I go with it. If it''s randomly about a relationship, it''s a lot harder to write about that," he says. Fans at his live shows have been gravitating towards lyrically polarized songs on the album. "Tip Of The Iceberg" may not be one of his deeper sentiments, but the universal subject about getting to know someone and realizing that person is not for you resonates with the listener. Yet so does "Gone American," a satire written when the Bush administration was coming into power, about the government taking on the whole world. "I would love to have a forum to make a difference," says Chris. "Like Coldplay, which pass out flyers on different causes, I don''t want to do art for art''s sake."

Chris had been writing for 10 years, and graduated from Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo, Ont. with a degree in music composition and application. One of his most memorable accomplishments was playing at Woodstock ''99, on the sidestage with Alice, as the keyboardist and backing vocalist. In 2002, he released a CD with a rock act, Ironic Twist. The band landed a spec deal with a producer, but the shopping agreement fell by the wayside after all the members decided to pursue their own individual projects. While working the past 18 months on putting his solo debut together, he has been teaching music and scoring films. As a film music composer, he received the award for Best International Short Film at the 2002 New York International Film Festival for his first project, Vodka, Winter and the Cry of Violin. In 2003, he received the Harvey Hart Film Award for scoring the short film Goodman. He is currently working as an arranger/copyist for renowned Canadian composer Rob Carli (The Associates) and is completing a commission to write a symphony for the Etobicoke orchestra for its 2005/6 season. Chris has toured across southern Ontario for the last few years, currently with a full band in support of Every Day Has An End.
