The Artist
Chris Webb lives the American dream. He conveys that everyday struggle through his music, with a passionate hope to come out on top at the end. As a storyteller, he''s downright honest with the listener- and by opening up a window into his emotions, a strong sense of trust is formed. You can feel his optimism and confidence despite the long and uneasy journey that lies ahead. It''s this blunt reality that draws us closer to his sound, focusing on what he has to say.
Webb is an accomplished musician, with a drive for honing that expressive feeling that embodies his approach to life. Born in Chicago in the late 70''s, he''s been writing music religiously since he was twelve. With over a hundred originals under his belt, Left to Write marks his fifth CD release of innovative material. His songs appeal to a very broad audience, yet his challenging and technical compositions entertain the most critical music aficionados. Many fans describe his style as an advanced, more technical Jack Johnson sound. He graduated from the University of Colorado in ''04 with a BA in music, and his broad resume includes the composition of a school fight song for Elgin Community College. He''s shared the stage with Leftover Salmon, Umphrey''s Mcgee and the Big Wu.
The Album
Left to Write marks Chris Webb''s initial solo release, in addition to being his first album supported by a label. The artist has turned this into a truly solo display; composing every song, laying down all vocal and guitar tracks, and tying it all together with the design of the album cover art.
Special guests include famed Colorado musicians Jon Rademaekers and Mendel Rabinovitch from Cabaret Diosa laying down the drum and percussion tracks. Long time collaborator and session player Michael McGuirk adds the low end.
The Feeling
This innovative album has a widespread appeal that will make the busiest of listeners pause their thoughts to lend an ear. It''s that brutal honesty of life that we can all relate to, and it draws us into Chris Webb''s music. Left to Write encourages the listener to realize that they are alive.
