Details:
Singer/songwriter Collin Rice has done what is rapidly becoming impossible—taking a cliché formula—guy with guitar—with cliché topics such as love and relationships, and somehow producing music that is original, insightful, and unique. Influenced by such artists as Jack Johnson and Dave Matthews, Collin often covers relatable topics, in a relatable way, while offering music that is both impressive and enjoyable.

In today’s music scene, Collin’s sound and approach is refreshingly genuine. He’s a regular guy from Kansas City, an optimist, and perhaps a hippie in the wrong era. Tracks such as “Old Man,” from his debut album, Save For Sunny Days, reflect Collin’s perspective by presenting the protagonist, an old man, who reminds us to Carpe Diem with the short time we have on earth.

“No Labels”, a popular song and the title of his second album, visits the critical and relevant issue of racism. While most artists might come off as preachy or condescending when covering heated topics, Collin utilizes two squirrels (and humor) to prove his point. This track, and others, demonstrates Collin’s ability to produce simple and agreeable lyrics, regardless of the subject at hand.

His latest release, "Waiting on the Rain" is his most philosophical and insightful work yet. Tracks such as "Dreamer" reflect a sense of loss of innocence and entrapment that many free-thinkers feel. Others such as “Stalk in the Wind” and “Insignificance” deal with the finite restrictions of the human life. These are joined with numerous other high-powered philosophical issues and the unique musical styling of a talented and provocative songwriter to give “Waiting on the Rain” a truly moving and enlightening quality.

In short, Collin produces music that just feels good. Whether with friends or alone on the beach, his music seems to float above genres by offering music that is relevant, enjoyable, and leaves you with a smile.
