Details:
This self-titled debut is the result of four years of hard work for Echoes. Its members, all 2007 high school graduates, have been together for the past four years jamming, gigging, and writing and fine-tuning their music. Recorded by Chris Reed in the Kerpka’s basement and at the Glens Falls Music Academy, this independent release has the professional sound quality of a major label’s release. The album is composed of all original songs, with a wide variety of musical styles incorporated into this album. “How Much Money” is a fresh hard blues-rock song featuring intriguing lyrics and a ripping guitar solo, while “Monkey in a Rut” combines the same style with funk and culminates in an all-out breakdown section. “Dance You Martyr” combines a laid-back jam with fascinating political lyrics and an exciting trading solo between Kerpka on guitar and Taylor on the saxophone. “Strawberry Watermelon” is a great upbeat pop-rock song, featuring catchy lyrics, a danceable beat, and a great guitar solo. “Forever’s Not So Long,” similarly, is a very high energy song that brings to mind The Who and other staples of classic rock in a very exciting song that brings you to your feet dancing with catchy lyrics, a driving rhythm section, and ripping solos. “December Days” is a soft, beautiful piece that is commonly listed as a favorite among Echoes fans, featuring Titterington on the cello and Taylor on the Soprano Saxophone. “Same” brings back memories of Pink Floyd, featuring a very psychedelic feel with trippy lyrics and an awesome guitar solo to bring the song to a close. “Aurora” evokes a similar mood as “Same” in an instrumental jam, featuring Brown on the bass and exciting build-ups and improvisation. “Alaskan Blues” is a goofy 12-bar blues song featuring Kerpka and Brown with vocals and solos from every corner of the band. No matter how you look at it, this album has songs for everyone, and is definitely on that everyone can enjoy.

Echoes consists of six members: Jeremy Kerpka on lead guitar and vocals; Benjamin Brown on bass guitar and vocals; Kevin DelSignore on drums and percussion; Patrick Titterington on lead vocals, piano, guitar, and cello; Alex Taylor on alto and soprano saxophone and lead vocals; and John Fritz on keyboard and guitar. They have played around the greater Glens Falls and Saratoga area in upstate New York for four years now, and have become a staple of the music in the area earning a quickly growing fan base.
