Details:
Let’s French is a four-piece indie rock and roll band from Washington, DC. Founded in 2006 by Matt McCoy, Randy Chugh, Maxwell Sorenson, and Tim Gibbon, the quartet has been playing energetic, catchy guitar/synth/beat/vocal driven rock music to a rapidly expanding fan base. May 19th 2007 saw the release of their debut album, “Victory” which was accompanied by an unforgettable performance at 14th Street’s Black Cat.

In addition to their own performances, Let’s French is an ever-present force on the DC scene through their affiliation with the Federal Reserve (sing for your country!) collective. The Federal Reserve band of bands makes it their mission to bring great music from within DC and across the country to premier venues in the greater DC area. Monthly Federal Reserve shows and a compilation album released by Gypsy Eyes Records have kept the collective on the tip of DC’s collective tongue.

Here’s what people are saying about Let’s French:

“Let''s French is the rockingest member of the DC folk-rock coalition the Federal Reserve, but the focus is still definitely on good songwriting and idiosyncratic self-expression.”
-On Tap Magazine

“On "Victory" the band delivers 10 songs of snappy, confident, blog-ready indie rock. I go back and forth between thinking lead singer Randy Chugh sounds like Brandon Flowers (the Killers), Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) or Paul Banks (Interpol), so I suppose in the end he just sounds like Randy Chugh, with a dramatic, deep voice that he uses to his advantage. It''s not so much what he says as how he says it, frequently stretching out his words to lend everything an air of importance. There''s a feeling of immediacy that runs through most of these songs, in everything from the vocals to animated arrangements.”

“We''re big fans of the local Federal Reserve collective, which is home to some of this town''s best alt-country/folk-pop/whatever you want to call it bands like Kitty Hawk, These United States and Revival. Holding up the rock wing of the Reserve is Let''s French, a quartet that will probably get the Interpol treatment due to singer Randy Chugh''s dramatic, deep baritone, but that plays songs that are punchier and less mopey than those fashionable New Yorkers. More recent New York buzz band Clap Your Hands Say Yeah might be a better reference point, and you can even hear a bit of treadmill power-poppers OK Go in the group''s songs.”
