ABOUT MILASA

Milasa was born December 14, 1980 in Russia’s Chelyabinskaya region, Trehgornyi city. Her musical education began at the age of six when her parents encouraged her to join a singing circle. The following year, her family decided that she should continue her studies at a specialized music school. Guitar lessons soon followed and then at the age of 16 she entered the musical college in nearby Ozersk city.
After graduation at 19, Milasa continued her creative development in Moscow where she has entertained crowds at several Russian festivals over the past three years. In August 2005, at the invitation of producer Valery Alborov, she participated in the internationally renowned Fringe festival in Edinburgh, Scotland and earned much critical acclaim for her performance there.
On March 15th 2006 Milasa performed two songs, Prayer and Moon, with the highly acclaimed Russian guitarist Dmitry Chetvergov accompanying her on both guitar and keyboards. These superb performances were screened by a major national Russian television company through a programme called ProSVET. ProsVET is very popular with Russian audiences and hosted by the famous presenter Dmitry Dibdov. Again these beautifully captured, fully live performances, very succinctly demonstrated her immense talent in being able to reproduce the songs to the same incredibly high standard as that of the album recordings.
To hear Milasa sing in her native Russian is to bear witness to the pathos and melancholy memories that often seem to run through the heritage of the Russian soul.
Beautiful songs like Moon and Prayer could well take your heart on a journey that it might never fully recover from. Her voice is rich and deep but also in many ways fragile and tender, beautifully expressive so that although in Russian the listener is left in no doubt the depth of emotion being conveyed in her songs. Furthermore her guitar playing is of an exceptional quality in both its technical prowess and expression. Milasa could just as easily have entered the world of classical playing and achieved much success there.

As with many artistic people Milasa also paints and draws and in fact much of her music appears to contain and transmit a natural transformation of ideas exchanging emotions between paper and a sound canvas., almost as though the two different mediums came from different sources to ultimately create the one expression.
Release of Milasa’s solo album is scheduled for autumn 2006 and will very comprehensively display the full diversity of her writing and singing styles. Whether it is ballad, jazz, ethnic, techno or more contemporary styles these are all accomplished with consummate ease and with a maturity and assuredness of touch beyond her years. Added to which this album has many innovative and excellent production values, for although underpinned by her exceptional guitar playing these are beautifully supported by cello, flutes, electric guitar and a subtle, but always sensitive addition, of synthersized keyboards. Everything in these arrangements has its place and makes a very considered contribution to an extremely well balanced album.
So to you the reader I encourage you to continue to follow the career of an exceptionally talented artist who will in the near future take her place at the very best venues the world has to offer.
