The group sat in a circle and sang their three part harmonies live, all while playing their instruments, which included guitars and electric piano. A Brief Biography of Jim Fusco
Jim Fusco was born on April 29, 1984 in East Haven, CT. He lived there with his parents until his brother, Mike, was born in 1986. The family then moved to Wallingford, CT, where they live today. Jim and Mike spent all of their time together, beginning to play music at an early age. Mike received a small plastic drum set, but both used the toy instrument. Jim then asked for his own drum set: first getting a beginners kit, then graduating to a full-sized drum set that he and Mike still use today.
Jim began to take drum lessons from Doug Sabino and learned all the various drum techniques needed to play full songs. Through his years of schooling, Jim mastered the instrument. However, this left Jim wanting more. So, he took over a hundred dollars he saved up to buy an electric keyboard. He began to teach himself how to play and began work with MIDI programming on the computer.
When Jim came up with a few songs on the keyboard, he began production on his first album, "With or Without You," completed in 2001. This album consisted of fifteen songs and a theme of being either with someone or without someone in every song. He recorded using the MIDI productions he programmed and added real drums and vocals to the mix using a Fostex 4-track mixer.
Jim slowly began work on his second album, "My Other Half," completed in June, 2002. This album, which eventually became a 27-track double disc set, also had a theme: a complete relationship in songs from beginning to end. Through the use of a computer multi-track recorder, better skills at the keyboard, writing partner Chris Moore (with help on lyrics), and the new acquisition of guitar to his songs (though, sparsely), Jim created a masterpiece that was hailed by everyone who heard it.
Honing his guitar skills even more, Jim then began work on his third album, "Formula," completed in February, 2003. This album''s title suggested it''s theme: a satire on the common "formula" album. These albums usually consist of only ten tracks, the fast starting song, the love song, the single, filler, the "B-side" track, the "push the envelope" song, and the big closer. This album was a transitional album for Jim, as he recorded half the album on tape and half on the computer. Also, some of the songs were written during the previous album''s sessions and others were written more recently. The differences in song quality and production really show through on this album. Jim''s guitar skills were limited to using it as a rhythm instrument, and the Jim''s experimental sounds (including heavy reverb on the vocal tracks) made this album an "in between" effort for Jim.
Proving this theory was Jim''s next album release, "That''s All...", completed nine months after, in November, 2003. This disc contained two complete albums on one disc. The first album, "That''s All Folks," consisted of contemporary folk songs Jim composed. The second album, "That''s All Jim," contained songs in Jim''s own style. Next, Jim turned to writing and completed a novel he had started in his senior year of high school, called There''s No Stepping Back. September of 2004 brought Jim''s latest project, a sort of "final frontier" as far as different media goes. He tackled music and print, leaving only a DVD left to do. His first project, "The Best of Jim Fusco, Vol. 1" debuted and featured many music videos, surround sound mixes, slideshows, and live performances. It''s definitely a new way to experience Jim''s songs!
Jim is a student at Southern Connecticut State University and is in the Honors program. He is studying to get his Video Production degree and hopes to work with radio, video, and (of course) music in his life.
A Brief Biography of Chris Moore
Chris Moore was born on October 2, 1984. Raised in the town of Meriden, CT, he moved to Wallingford with his family of two parents, Leigh and Cheryl Moore, and sister, Jaime Moore, whom he lives with today. While growing up, Chris and Jaime would often record "radio" shows on audio tapes, first with Jaime''s Playskool tape recorder, then with Chris'' Sony stereo.
In eighth grade, Chris met Jim Fusco, who would go on to be Chris'' most important collaborator. Jim''s talent for vocals and hard-earned expertise in the field of recording matched with Chris'' attention to lyrics helped each songwriter to progress musically and lyrically throughout their respective, and collaborative, albums.
In January 2001 Chris released the first of many lyrical albums, composed of a fully designed booklet and fifteen songs, written in the printed word. Chris later learned to play chords on the keyboard (from none other than Jim) and wrote new songs, this time with music to accompany them.
He is currently majoring in English at Central Connecticut State University, with a minor in rock''n''roll! (Just kidding; but at least he tries...) Chris now plays guitar as his primary instrument and has assembled six full-length albums. His latest project is a boxed set of his earliest recordings, rerecorded in digital audio with Chris'' honed guitar and harmonica skills.
