About the Creators

Opus Ditty & the Joyride Jet Engine Bus was independently created and released by Kevin Meeker and Ali Wood, an ambitious and creative pair living in Brooklyn.

Having spent over 5 years in the music industry, as a professional recording engineer, Kevin now has the pleasure of utilizing his trade skills for his own artistic persona, Opus Ditty. On top of writing, producing, and engineering this debut children''s record, Kevin also performs in and around Brooklyn as a children''s music teacher, and proud staff member of the Brooklyn based Children''s Music & Arts Program, Artscetera (https://www.tradebit.com).

Kevin''s musical counterpart Ali, spent the better part of the 1990’s in the New York indie-rock scene as a lead vocalist, and is now earning her Master’s in Creative Arts Therapy, at Pratt University, in Brooklyn. With her rock & roll background, and having worked in the past for a variety of social services, as well as a pre-school, Ali not only offers Opus Ditty a hip musical instinct, but also a great deal of experience in early childhood development, and education.

Together this creative team aspires to support and further the use of the Arts in fostering education, awareness, and life-skills in the community.

The Opus Ditty Back-story

Opus Ditty grew up on a farm in rural Ohio. As a boy, his favorite time of day was when the chores where done. Afterwards he would sit on the front porch listening to his grandfather tell stories about all the adventures he had traveling around the world, while his grandmother played old 45''s in the front room. Listening to those stories, Opus got to thinking, and decided to have some adventures of his own, so he built the Joyride Jet Engine Bus out of spare parts he found in the barn. He loaded up the bus with his favorite instruments and set off to see the world. He traveled to every continent, making friends and writing songs about all the things he did and saw.

Everywhere that Opus went, two things were always the same. First, was that everybody and everything seemed to experience the world in their own unique way. Second was that, out of all the ways people related to their world, music & dancing seemed to make the most sense.

In 2005, Opus'' travels led him to New York City, where by chance he encountered an experienced recording engineer Kevin Meeker. Kevin had recently relocated from Los Angeles to New York seeking, in his own words, "something more...worthwhile to do." Having had the pleasure of working with a wide variety of recording artists over the years, Kevin knew a talent we he saw one. He immediately struck up a partnership with Opus, and in early 2006, the two created the seamless audio adventure now known as Opus Ditty & the Joyride Jet Engine Bus.
