Details:
Every music has feeling behind it. It carries the inspiration that has flowed through it’s composer. Given the limited number of ways in which one can actually arrange notes, the source of any music''s originality lies in the feeling or consciousness behind it.

This is what is unique about the music of Sri Chinmoy: his compositions are an extension of his devotion to spirituality.

Born in Bengal in 1931, Sri Chinmoy spent the first part of his life dedicating himself to the practice of spirituality. Since moving to New York City in 1964, he has helped teach meditation to many students in the West. The numerous compositions that he has written have arisen out of his communion with his highest Self. These Bengali songs all have a devotional and spiritual theme. For example, Ami Amare translates to: "I am in constant search of myself". The feeling or consciousness behind his music is truly progressive.

Pavaka arranges songs composed by Sri Chinmoy, suffusing them with his own Western musical training. On the first recording the following instruments are used: 6-string acoustic guitars, 4-string fretless and 5-string (tuned E to C) fretted basses, synthesizer, mandolin, percussion instruments from Indonesia, Thailand, Cuba and Colombia as well as various percussion loops.
