Carl Sagan said that from the edge of the galaxy the earth was nothing but a "pale blue dot". The music of Pale Blue Dot is all about perspective, approaching harmony and complex lyrical subjects from an altered and unique angle.

Richly textured and widely influenced from classic and modern rock, the band''s sound can be attributed to the family at its core. Brothers, Scott and Justin Collins began a musical collaboration several years ago, blending alternating guitar lines, harmony, and introspective lyrics into their raw and emotional sound which runs the gamut from a stripped down acoustic three piece to a full on five piece rock outfit.

"Being brothers lends a sense of security to the music because of an honesty in the working relationship," Scott says. "We have a mutual taste in music and know what moves each other. If we both approve of it, it''s the kind of music we want to make."

Their musical exploration deepened with the addition of Scott''s wife, Kim Collins of the band Kim''s Fable. "It was a natural progression," comments Justin. "She gives the music a different twist - makes it more mysterious. She''s not a background singer. We think of her as another instrument." Kim''s contributions include a variety of percussion and woodwind textures as well as her classic and haunting Middle Eastern vocal phrasings.

Pale Blue Dot''s debut album, released in February of 2001, was recorded in part as a tribute to the brothers'' late father. "The result," says the Nashville Scene, "is a sincere album that obscures its highly personal reason for being enough to be enjoyed on its own." Their second LP Big Plans was released in October of 2003.
