Porchdroid is an ongoing musical project which was concieved back in the early 80''s when a young chap by the name of Eric Camilleri began dabbling with a few cheap musical instruments, a Tascam Porta 05, and a pile of blank C90''s.
The advent of MIDI and an Atari 1040 opened up all sorts of oppotunities in the Droid''s creative mind, and soon there were cables aplenty.
Today, a dedicated home studio houses 2 PC''s running numerous VST instruments, a 88 key MIDI contoller and multitrack digital recording software. The cables are still all over the place. Traditional instruments and living breathing (barely) musicians have been known to be used to achieve a human feel.
Currently Porchdroid enjoys composing for video projects, web pages and jingles, whilst also performing at various venues, playing in a number of cover bands, completing a Graduate Diploma in Music Therapy and generally making as much music as humanly possible.
The songs on this eclectic collection span from 1995 to present and have been selected from numerous recordings to present a colourful history of development and change within the artists views to composition, musical layering and structure.
An attempt has been made to interweave ambient and electronic music on this first release to maintain a level of variation and contrast.
