Praktikos Yios is the debut album for Marty Schrock. In the Spring of 05 Marty put a little home studio together and began recording songs for the ''one night sessions'' project the following summer. In March of 07 Marty narrowed the track list down to thirteen songs and gave each track a quick mix down before sending the master off for duplication. He experimented with mastering some of the songs but found they lost their vulnerable feel with added effects and compression. So, Praktikos Yios remains as it was recorded, unmastered. Each song has been mixed down on the 8 track digital recorder that was used during the recording process. In keeping with the idea that the music should remain fresh, each song was recorded in one night. In fact, about half the songs on the album were written one night and tracked the next. Imagine lying in bed on a still summer night with your window open and hearing a strum and a voice coming from the basement of the home next to yours. You recall a memory and then you smile. This is what Praktikos Yios feels like.
