WORLD: World Fusion, NEW AGE: Contemporary Instrumental

Details:
Having spent 21 years and attaining worldwide recognition as a founding member and drummer/percussionist for the group Shadowfax, Stu Nevitt has enjoyed a very long and rewarding career. Grammy Award winners in 1988 and nominees in 1992, the band reached sales figures of 250,000 on several of their albums. Their tours found them headlining such venues as Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Red Rocks and The Montreux Jazz Festival. Due to the untimely passing of Chuck Greenberg, the group stopped recording and touring in 1995.

Stu is proud to present his first solo project, “The Marion Kind”. It is similar to the Shadowfax style, while expanding on the groundbreaking work of the group.

"the Marion Kind" Review by Elia Rodia / Artists & Bands Copyright (c) 2006 mp3hardplay
Drummer/percussionist Stu Nevitt, better known for his membership with worldwide award winning band "Shadowfax", is on the scene with his first solo project. Stu has involved many great friends on “the Marion Kind”, making it a very intriguing setup of songs .

The album is full of different colored pages. Brown Rice / Karmapa Chenno is a track with Sean Finnigan (The Gregg Allman Band,/ Etta James) on vocals, lots of percussion and an early 80''s fusion layout; one of the strongest tunes on the album.

Several musicians come and go in augmenting the core of the album. Unique and extremely talented Stu Nevitt is the director that blends many styles like reggae/ska tracks Blue in the Face & Madagascar Café with the help of "The Expanders" and "The Ancient Skalars".

Blues standard 300 Pounds of Heavenly Joy is a classic heart drifter and an example of how Stu runs the complete music scene with the help of special guests Cash McCall (Willie Dixon, Chuck Berry, Rotary Connection and Shadowfax), Rob Paparozzi (Bruce Springsteen, Dolly Parton, Julian Lennon, Whitney Houston, Cyndi Lauper and Carole King) and last but not least Phil Maggini, bass guitar for Shadowfax!

Instrumental Slim Limbs Akimbo, in collaboration with keyboardist and former member
of Shadowfax, Armen Chakmakian, is a highlight of this unpredictable album!

“The Marion Kind” is a mix of instrumental fusion, rock, jazz and Caribbean/world elements that are all expressive and powerfully electric, with an emphasis on musicianship.

Stu Nevitt continues to give positive vibes to the music scene. Heavy use of percussion, strong melodies and atmospherics have always been in Stu''s know how.
For those that have admired the notes of past Shadowfax works, then this collection of tracks won''t let you down.
