Details:
Organ of Habit is a ferociously tender attempt to bridge mind and matter, blending smoky vocals with luminous finger work on flamenco and classical guitars. The album includes songs that Samantha has refined in dark corners and on bright stages in the US, the Philippines, New Zealand, Spain and the UK. Its lyrics are pensive, dark and playful, exploring questions of love, ambition, cosmic uncertainty and global communication. Bill Kavanaugh (bass) and Paula Pryce (vocals) liven up the mix along with percussion, organ, and the cuatro. Despite its high production values, the album preserves the intimacy and raw energy that have come to characterise Samantha''s live show.
After gaining her sea legs on Chicago’s vibrant open mic scene, Samantha began performing professionally in 2002. She was a regular feature at Chicago’s Red Line Tap and Uncommon Ground, as well as performing regionally and internationally. She now lives in Oxford, England, where she is frequently seen on Thursday nights at the Catweazle Club.
