STUMBLETOWN STEVEN ADAMS
The Riddle In Doubt
The emergence of Seattle’s STUMBLETOWN STEVEN ADAMS as a singer/songwriter is a story of measuring success in the journey and not the destination. Through his life’s experiences (documented in 2005’s The Closet of Influence, a collection of writing, sketches and photos), Stumbletown has crafted songs that are at home in classic rock
as they are in country and alt-pop. Called an “alternative adult
rocker,” his provocative music touches upon the human spirit, in
metaphors wrapped in a melancholic soundtrack.
In 1999, Stumbletown began songwriting on a serious level at age 44.
Since then, he’s amassed a prolific body of work, including three
full-length records, several EPs and tracks on compilation albums. Even
so, his latest CD, The Riddle In Doubt, is easily his best work yet,
painting a tangible face on moods, from the blank stare out of a cold
window on a pouring raining afternoon, to the feeling when the house is
empty, the girl is gone and the guitar is out of tune. Along with
producer/musician Brian Nelson, guitarists Michael Lucas and Kevin
Whitworth and bassist Jason Freeman, Stumbletown Steven Adams has a lot
to say — and the forlorn sway of his emotions as expressed through a
well-played guitar — is something we can all relate to.
And the name Stumbletown? That’s the title of his first full-length
record, but it’s really based upon life as he knew it somewhere in
his
foggy past.
