Details:
Based in eastern Oregon, The Alibis came together early in 2004. All busy with other musical projects, the members found this band to be a refreshing departure; focusing on original material and sharing the load when it comes to lead vocals. This combination of solid rhythm, strong vocals, and award winning songwriting and guitar work adds up to a band that grooves, rocks, and makes you want to hear more. The Alibis are: Janis Carper - guitar, vocals; Jerry Smith - guitar, vocals; Tim Hines - bass, vocals; Tim Erickson – drums. The Alibis enjoy performing for audiences of all ages.

Janis Carper was born singing, and has been playing guitar since the age of six. She has performed country, rock, folk, swing, and blues in the northwest and beyond since the mid ''70s. Winning songwriting awards at festivals including the famed Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, Janis has also toured internationally in the off-broadway hit "Woody Guthrie’s American Song." Her 1992 recording No Place To Land was chosen as one of the top twelve independent recordings by Nashville''s The Performing Songwriter magazine. Peter, Paul and Mary have recently released "Of This World," co-written by Janis with former Seattle area trio-mates Becca Christel-Palm and Tracy Spring.

Jerry Smith played guitar in various rock and country bands around northern California from early to late 70''s. He moved to southern California in 1978 and played in country bands until getting a job with Columbia recording artist Zella Lehr. Jerry toured with Zella for three years and moved to Oregon in 1984, where he has played in many configurations of local bands in eastern Oregon. In the mid 90''s Jerry started playing bluegrass and in 1997 won the Columbia Gorge competition. In the late 90''s began playing blues with various local bands, including Baker City bluesman, Jimmy Lloyd Rea.

Tim Hines grew up in Pendleton, Oregon, has been influenced by the variety of musical styles he listend to in his youth. He started playing guitar in the 7th grade then eventually picked up the bass in the 8th grade. Tim moved to La Grande, Oregon when he started his second year of college. He''s played in many bands throughout the years including Critical Mass, Klue, I4NI Sirius, and more recently The Mike Mallory Band and Too Loud MacLeod and the Silencers. Tim also enjoys recording at his home studio. Recent recording projects include Jerry Smith, Three of a Kind, Kris Mallory and Conner Ross.

Tim Erickson comes from a musical family, and started drumming at the age of eight. Playing all through public schools near Eugene, Oregon earned him a seat in the 1987 Oregon All-State Jazz Ensemble. Tim spent a couple of years playing for Mt. Hood Community College''s jazz program, and later some time playing for the Cruise Ship industry. The Cruise work included backing up many Las Vegas "Legend" impersonators. This covered every act from Bobby Darin, to Bette Midler, the Blues Brothers, Sammy Davis jr., Roy Orbison, Elton John, any many others. Tim has played regularly over the years, and has also enjoyed running live sound and recording. Currently, Oregon''s Grande Ronde valley has become home, and Tim is enjoying playing music with the The Alibis.
