Tom graduated in 1971 from North Texas University (BME) and in 1984 from Memphis State University (MA) since then he has been involved in promoting Music Education to students around the world.

In addition to being a creative jazz improviser, Tom is a skilled show player which allowed him to hold the lead trumpet chair for the 1980 Ray Charles world tour for 8 months and in 1992 another 8 months with the Drifters in Europe, lead jazz trumpet chair with Glenn Miller Tribute Band and Buddy DeFranco Band in 1971. Other Big Bands: Gene Krupa Tribute Band, Benny Goodman Tribute band, Les Elgart, Ray Anthony, Chubby Jackson, Cab Calloway, Richard Maltby, Be-Bop All Stars, Jazz At The Philharmonic, George Bouchard and the S.S. Norway Jazz Cruise with Joe Williams, Buck Clayton, Erskine Hawkins and The Norway Jazz Crew.

Tom spent 8 years in Los Angeles working in recording studios for the music and film industry. LA Studio''s top recording Latin Band, Rock and Soul Band, the East Coast Big Band, the Sunrise Orchestra, Tommy Vig, Ana Cani, Tom''s first jazz album featured members of the Sunrise Orchestra. The band performed at the Come-Back Inn in Venice, CA, and the Pilgrimage Theater.

Tom took part in recording and performing shows with Natalie Cole, Donald O''Connor, Fred Travelend, Bobby Vinton, Al Martino, Bob Crosby, Sid Caesar, The Mills Brothers, Ed Ames, Barbara Eden, Rita Moreno, Jerry van Dyke, Bobby Rydell, Engelbert Humperdinck, Shields and Yarnell, Trini Lopez, Sha Na Na, Jack Jones, The Four Tops, Lloyd Price, Lil'' Anthony, The Imperials, The Ink Spots, The Spinners, The Association, and many more...

Tom''s trumpet playing can be heard in the pit recordings of many musicals, such as: the opening NY road show of Zorba featuring Anthony Quinn and the original Broadway cast with Mitzi Gaynor and Jim Nabors, other shows include: Anything Goes, The Boyfriend, Applause, Sweet Charity, They''re Playing Our Song, Dr, Seuss''s Seussical, and many more...
