Details:
Colleen''s first public appearance was at age 3 at a local holiday store where she told Santa (and the crowd who gathered) all about "The Night Before Christmas" - word for word. She knew from the outset that she was an entertainer - it resounded in every fiber of her being.

Colleen''s parents met in a co-ed chorus - and the tone was set. Dad also played a little piano and every Sunday night after family dinner, he played the old Hammond organ at Grandmom''s. Colleen grew up around music and started to sing - mostly popular songs from musical theatre and Christmas carols - in her grade school choir at 8; she began piano lessons at 10 where she was trained mainly on the classics.

Theatre seemed like the perfect outlet. So, she embarked on a theatre degree (Rowan University) where she studied dance and began private voice lessons. There she learned that not only was she a singer among singers, she could hold her own as a soloist!

Her accomplishments over those four years earned her a coveted spot (only 10 chosen from thousands of applicants) in Temple University''s three year Theatre MFA program. Although it was in the top ten of such programs in the country, Colleen relinquished her position. She just knew she didn''t want to do Shakespeare and Pinter ad infinitim. Rosie O''Donnell summed up theatre best, in her opinion: "It''s like Ground Hog''s Day" (Doing the same thing eight times a week, week after week.)

Instead, she continued honing her craft, studying with voice teachers in New York and San Diego for years, singing here and there - bars, clubs, fund raisers, in musicals. She has sung it all and sung it everywhere: starting with musical theatre - from summer stock in New Jersey to Southern California venues including Starlight, Moonlight and Diversionary; from lowlife bars to the Hotel Del Coronado and the Ritz Carlton. She''s sung for drunks and bums; for Rosa Parks and the Fifth Dimension and everything in between. She still studies voice, currently with world class Opera Diva, Dianna Ruggiero.

One fortuitous afternoon in 1992 she learned of an a cappella Christmas caroling company (complete with Dickens costumes!) which was about to begin rehearsals for the Holiday Season. This piqued her interest, so she crashed the rehearsal hoping to charm or wow her way in. She did ... and she carols with the Full Measure Carolers to this day. "There''s nothing like singing in an a cappella quartet!"

Beyond the obvious rewards, Colleen received two huge blessings (and compliments) for her work: in 1994, she was invited to join with 7 other Full Measure Carolers to form an a cappella jazz octet: Jazzapella. Under the direction of Tony Atienza, the group performed original arrangements and covered Manhattan Transfer, Take Six and The Nylons. Jazzapella played at several smaller venues throughout San Diego County culminating in a main stage appearance at the San Diego Convention Center on New Years Eve 1995. Later in 1995, two members moved away and two others began their respective families. Sadly, Jazzapella disbanded.

The second and even bigger blessing came in late 1999 as Full Measure Carolers founder, Janet Hammer, invited Colleen to sing in a Millennium Special Event at Church of Today - COT - (https://www.tradebit.com) a large Unity Church in San Diego. Again, singing in a quartet, but now with a band and before a 1500 member congregation! Colleen''s been a member of the COT music team and a regular soloist there ever since. Expanding into other New Thought Churches, she now sings regularly at Seaside Church of Religious Science, Bonita Church of R.S. and Fallbrook Church of R.S. and is actively working to broaden her horizons further.

This has been an answer to many of Colleen''s prayers: to sing uplifting music for an attentive audience without staying out until 2 p.m.! She also met co-composer, JR (James R) Betts - COT''s regular accompanist; and has begun to realize her long-held dream of shifting from singer to singer-songwriter. Stick around for more.
