Sharing his devotion and deep inspiration through music and chanting is a part of Krishna''s spiritual work and service. It is his way of serving the Divine within and the divine in this manifest world.
In Krishna’s early childhood in South India, he would sing and chant the prayers of the Giita in the quiet dawn each morning with his grandfather. As a young teen, Krishna quenched some of his deep thirst for spiritual guidance through the teachings and inspiration of the great Indian philosopher Swami Vivekananda. By the age of 17 Krishna completely devoted his time to spiritual ideology and began an intensive training of yoga and tantra meditation under the philosophy of Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji, whom he lovingly calls Baba. Since then he is known as kamalkrishna amongst his friends and family.
By means of the deepest love for the Divine, Krishna loves to compose Kiirtana using the universal chant-Baba Nam Kevalam- given by his Guru. He has four other collections of his Kiirtan albums released in 1997 to 2002 in India.
This sanskrit mantra “Baba Nam Kevelam,” means “Only the Name of the Beloved.” When one sings the praises of the Divine in loud voice it is called kiirtana. If it is done mentally then it''s called as Japa. The science behind kiirtana is when you do it loudly your vocal cords are busy singing,the mind is employed in that thought, and the ears are hearing it, thus guiding you towards inner core of your being. Kiirtana helps mind to be calm and prepared for meditation by creating subtle vibrations generated from the subtle thoughts.
This CD is a compilation of the songs composed and sung by Krishna and his friends. Music arrangement and direction done by Krishna and Gopisundar.
