It is no surprise that my daughter Debra Lynn Paxton is a great lead singer, studio singer, drummer, percussionist, writer & producer.
She first entered the studio when she was 3 days old because she was born in Hollywood, California at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital. My studio was not in my home. We lived in our studio. During her first five years, she met many big time stars, studio musicians & singers on a daily basis who were recording there or hanging out such as The Association, Tommy Roe, The Four Freshmen, Roger Miller, Clarence White, Hal Blaine, Barney Kessel, Jerry Scheff, Mike Deasy, The 5th Dimension (Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis, Jr.), Billy Preston & many, many others.
Her mother was a Lena Horne-type Jazz singer & I produced many Jazz artists as well as had my own R&B label that had Richard ("Louie, Louie") Berry & many others on it. At the same time, I was also producing several Country artists.
My point... she was exposed to Rock & Roll, R&B, Jazz & Country all at once... all the time... all of her life. She seemed like a sponge, absorbing all of the best of it. She was constantly beating on things, breaking into sessions, singing too loud in the control room on client''s playbacks (they loved it!), offering A&R suggestions while still in grade school (& usually right!).
And now she is booming forth on her own solo & studio career. She is an excellent talent in all areas, with a scary-good ear. She will make it big, and her spiritual commitment will continue to be her driving influence.

A few years back, I received a phone call from Skip Conti, former member of Three Dog Night, now a record producer. A born-again Christian, He was producing a new Christmas album for Maranatha Music. He asked me if I had any Christmas music, so I went home and began to write this song "Jesus Is The Light For The World." Later, they decided to do all traditional songs, so for a few years the dust gathered on this, my follow-up to "Make Me An Instrument."
This year, after a nearly fatal car crash, I felt led with help from others that this was the year I had to put this very special song to work. After all, this is the "Year of Jubilee" for the Jewish nation, & I believe that whatever is done within this year will be greatly blessed.
When Debra Paxton heard the song & decided to record it, I felt that the world must not only hear this wonderful song, but the beautiful, silky, anointed voice, & the hi''s & lo''s she possesses & delivers so tastefully within this song.
I wrote it to celebrate the birth of our King of Kings, the Lord Jesus...so now we give it to you to enjoy, too...for He is the Light in us!

I first had the opportunity to hear Debra Paxton sing 12 years ago in a rehearsal in which we both were involved. She blew me away that day with the amazing range, the flawless agility so few singers can pull off without sounding calculated, & the incredible warmth & tenderness which seemed to ring out from the depths of her soul.
Since that time, I have had the honor of working on many, many songs with her in many different settings. Every time I hear her sing, she once again blows me away with the heart-felt passion that comes through the microphone, the precise pitch she consistently delivers & the sincerity that pierces through every note she sings.
It has taken 12 years for me to find a song & build a production strong enough to support that pure, wonderful voice. When I first heard the song "Jesus Is The Light For The World", I knew instantly that I had finally found the song that could do her voice justice.
I''m proud to say that I have the long-overdue pleasure to present her for you to hear as the debut artist on Kertoons Records.
It is my deepest Christmas wish that she touches your heart as much as she has blessed me so many times.
