EUPHORIA is the new musical collection by MONTY GUY.
This CD represents an inspired and artistic labor of love
with its seven instrumentals and four vocal tracks. The production quality on the previous CD "INFINITE EMBRACE" was excellent, yet the engineering and overall sound production quality of EUPHORIA shows an overt, enhanced and superior achievement that complements, and perhaps, even embellishes the compositions and the music presentation.
The collection was intended to be a production of instrumental songs. As the CD evolved, however, MONTY was moved to sing a few heartfelt lyrics about "My Wish For You", his "Love Jones Need", and his earnest confession that "I''ve Got To Be With You Now".
The labor of love begins with the vibrant instrumental "Dream Flight". This composition was inspired by a love interest; the one we have all admired from afar. The artistic intent is to convey the coruscating upliftment experienced by one''s heart during thoughtful moments about being in love with your "...Heart''s One Desire"; albeit in the deep, passionate privacy of one''s soul.
"You know that I want you, from morning till evening time" proclaims MONTY in "Love Jones Need"; as the smooth uptempo orchestral arrangement costumes the composition with scintillating elegance. One of the more difficult songs in the EUPHORIA collection, "Love Jones Need" shows the maturation of artistic integrity. According to MONTY, "this tune took about two years to get right". The result shows time well spent.
"Brass Menagerie" is a brass section inspired composition. From the beginning of his recording and production career,a consistent element in the musical works of MONTY GUY has been the elucidating presence of brass instrumentation. The first recorded "New Age...neo-funk" ballad entitled "Once Upon A Time" showed a determination to express passion in orchestration as can be conveyed only through brass tones. The uptempo supporting song called "Hungry For You" not only showed promise in arranging original compositions, but was also a harbinger of melodic brass enhanced arrangements to come; as evidenced by "Melody With A Swing", and now the new and exciting song "Brass Menagerie".
The Steel Band is coming! This statement was announced by many citizens and music aficionados, both mature and youngsters, during the days of MONTY''s youth, as the travelling Steel Drum Orchestras thrilled so many people throughout the Caribbean. The song "I''ve Got To Be With You Now" is reminiscent of those steel band sounds. Originally composed in the Calypso genre, this ballad is a contemporization of MONTY''s caribbean roots. This delightful song, in its pleasing manifestation, may best be described as "Kaiso-Reggae".
"Senorita (Muy) Bonita" has always been one of MONTY''s big musical challenges. Inspired by the pleasure experienced during one of many visits to "The Latin Palace", an entertainment complex and night club dance emporium,"Senorita Bonita" was originally introduced in the "FROZEN FIRE" collection. The song was well received. Yet, MONTY felt the need to attempt an improvement. Although fearing the possibility of production misadventure, MONTY yielded to artistic restlessness and professional integrity. He gave himself to the song, and according to one staunch critic, "the result is a work of excellence". The vocals were also redone, resulting in the magnificent track "Senorita Bonita-Redux".
Consistent with his sanguine nature and optimistic outlook, MONTY created "My Wish For You", in which he declares that "I wish you love, with joy to fill your heart". The uplifting sentiments continue throughout this song. The melody line is a euphonious delight, while the arrangement suggests soulful caribbean passion, supporting an overall production value that is both heartwarming, and soothing to the Soul.
"Phil''s Delight" continues to display MONTY''s love of instrumental songs. This uptempo piece is a specially conceived composition; adding immensely to the joy experienced throughout the creation of EUPHORIA.
The collection is completed with a reprise of an earlier track. "Hold Me, Kiss Me" was intended to feature the title as its only lyric during the chorus section, but, according to MONTY, the music, with its spicy uptempo rhythm, spoke eloquently enough.
This new CD collection of original music shows great improvement over MONTY GUY''s earlier interesting works; viz., "LOVE JAMBOREE", "IN THE BLACK", "OPUS GROOVE 2000", "FROZEN FIRE", and "INFINITE EMBRACE". He obviously loves music. Clearly, he invested a great deal of time, emotion and passion in creating and producing EUPHORIA. This new collection of AC NEW AGE ORCHESTRAL POP shows a continuing commitment to pursuing excellence in the music production artform. In dedicating himself to producing EUPHORIA, MONTY GUY has delivered a noteworthy and high quality representation of his labor of love.
