Joining Pat Daugherty and his Fender Rhodes electric piano are Aaron Comess of the Spin Doctors on drums and Tim Givens on upright bass.
The record kicks off with SPACE TRAVEL ; the success of this tune at their live shows became the motivation for recording this music. An example of Pat''s biting acoustic piano can be heard on DEMOCRAZY. The lingering melody of HIDDEN PATH was written the morning of the session and features the trio''s spontaneous chemistry. SPLIT THREE WAYS was the one number that was just made up on the spot. BLUES IN ORBIT is an abstract acoustic blues comet in the sky. 13th STREET HUMMINGBIRD take its inspiration from a visitation last summer at a city garden. "A hummingbird flew in and danced around me", Daugherty opines. " I wanted the tune to take it out."
The trio has been working this material out live in New York and taking it out. The album became a favorite among East Village DJ''s for its blend of addictive grooves and spacious delivery. The record was the #1 add for the CMJ report of March 17th. The album is spreading out from its New York nest into the national airwaves and the plot thickens.
