All is right in the world of music again. Kenefick has re-formed!

Kenefick launched on to the Texas Country Music scene back in 2001 with the release of their first CD, “Hard Road”. Kenefick was blessed with collaboration on this project by none other than Lloyd Maines and Adam Odor in the production roles. “Hard Road” was an immediate success, with singles making both the Texas Music Chart and the Progressive Country charts. The music was creative and new, but also traditional. It was full of energy, but rich with melody and meaning. The CD was one of the best selling debut CDs in Texas music history, most of which were sold on the road! Over 5,000 copies were sold at Kenefick shows in the first year of release. The outstanding live show complimented the original music with a highly energetic and entertaining stage presence. The music from “Hard Road” can still be heard on various radio stations around the country, and on the satellite and internet stations that have arrived since that time.

After becoming the official band of KILT in Houston, Texas (in 2003), touring regularly for 4 years, playing shows with the likes of Robert Earl Keen and Asleep At The Wheel, and playing venues such as the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Hideout & the Arial Theater in Houston, the original members of Kenefick found that it was necessary to take a break from what had become a very intense and overwhelming schedule. This allowed individuals to experiment with other creative projects and focus on their young families. It also facilitated the recharging of their creative juices.

In the spring of 2007, original members of Kenefick re-grouped and re-formed the band with some new blood. The result is an even more energetic and driving stage show, and some very creative new original music that they will soon take in to the studio for an expected spring release of a new Kenefick CD.

I had the pleasure of working with Kenefick in 2002 and 2003 when they played my live on-air radio program for KORA in Bryan – College Station on the back porch of the Dixie Chicken. We were also spinning their single “Last Time Was The Last Time” at the time. At a time when we were booking exciting new acts (the likes of Cross Canadian Ragweed), Kenefick fit right in and definitely held its own. They were, and still appear to be, very popular in Southeast Texas, and especially with the Houston Rodeo crowds. I’ve seen the new stage shows, and they “are” even better than before. The Armadillo Palace in Houston has even locked in Kenefick to play there exclusively for the rest of the 2007. I am really excited about a new CD from Kenefick as I have heard some of the new material, and it really is quality.
