Details:
Pat Metheny meets Chaka Khan! Days Ahead, based in Atlanta, combines elements of jazz, soul and rock to create powerful compositions. Wright meets Leachman. A collaboration of guitar and singer who''s melodies merge into each other in constant musical conversation, and is driven by the solid rhythm section of bassist Myron Carroll and drummer James Barrett.

Days Ahead''s debut album "Turning Point" boasts mature lyrical content. While some of Kim Leachman''s lyrics are autobiographical, some are spur of the moment that worked well with Steve Wright''s versatile playing style. Their first collaboration, "You Move Me", is an up-tempo love song with sultry vocals on the verse that are sexy and melodic followed up by a world beat chorus. Rock and Latin influenced "Falling Flower" is energetic and passionate. Advanced rhythmic and harmonic sensibility best describes this tune that''s filled with guitar and vocal scat lines, grooving bass and explosive drums. The "Days Ahead" tune, gives a 6/8 reggae feel with expressive guitar melody lines that are modal and fluent. "Courting A Fantasy", an acoustic duet, offers jazz authenticity with guitar and vocals resembling that of Tuck and Patti. Each tune by Days Ahead constantly moves, there are twists and turns throughout. Love, regret, discovery, and world views are pronounced as "Turning Point" offers improvisation as well as orchestrated hits and breaks. Steve and Kim''s meeting was the turning point for their lives and their music. The perfect title for their debut album. Other contributing musicians on "Turning Point" are bassists Jeff Smith and Aaron Clay, as well as Drummer Joe Lee. Their musical contributions helped complete the Days Ahead sound.

Days Ahead''s most memorable show was performing as special guest artist for Richmond Music and Arts Festival this year. Leachman recalls "The kids, young adults, as well as the adults all danced and sang to our music with equal passion. It wasn''t above anybody''s head." Days Ahead''s music crosses ages, genders and cultures and people enjoy feeling good about good music. Wright mused, "The home crowd is supposedly a tough crowd to please, but it was a great adventure. It was a good feeling to go home as a successful artist." Whether it''s the four piece, 4+, or duo, Days Ahead leaves their audiences looking ahead to the next time!

Days Ahead is receiving critical acclaim and are regarded as "a group with staying power" in the jazz contemporary industry. Energy...Strong Melodies... Pure Talent...are powerfully delivered in this band''s shows, and these elements are stamped throughout their debut album "Turning Point". Listen for yourself!
