David Alexander Stewart is a 21 year old full scholarship recipient at The Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida where he is majoring in Commercial Music with a minor in Business. Stewart is a member of the FSU Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo. The musical talent began at the age of 11 when he first started playing alto and tenor saxophones. The following year he was performing with Sonny LaRosa and America''s Youngest Jazz Band.

Also prior to his studies at FSU, he graduated from Howard W. Blake High School of the Performing Arts in Tampa, Florida where he was a member of the Jazz Band that was selected to perform at the Essentially Ellington Festival at the Lincoln Center in New York under the direction of Wynton Marsalis. This elite band placed fourth our of the two twenty jazz bands in the Unite States. During this festival, Stewart also had the privilege of having a solo performance with his tenor saxophone and had the honor of playing a jam session with Marcus Printup. With the Blake Jazz Combo, Stewart also toured 11 cities in Japan as a part of Florida''s Cultural Exchange Program with Japan.

Stewart was one of 12 students selected from the United States to train and perform at the Vail Jazz Festival in Colorado. There, he worked with Carl Allen, Jeff Clayton, John Clayton, Bill Cunliffe, and Terell Stafford. Notable performers at these camp were Ron Blake, Lou Donaldson, Wycliffe Gordon, Benny Green, Craig Handy, Ingrid Jensen, David "Fathead" Newman, Eric Reed, Lonnie Smith and Mark Whitfield.

His musical influence comes from the music of the native lands of his parents, Cuba and Jamaica. Stewart''s talent and musical drive has earned Stewart many awards and accomplishments.

Stewart has won the following awards:
 Gold medal winner each year from 1997 to 2001 for the ACT-SO local competition in the category of music instrumental where he performed in various cities like Atlanta, New York, Baltimore, and New Orleans.
 Second place winner in the 1999 Omega Psi Phi talent hunt.
 Silver medal winner at the 2001 NAACP National competition in New Orleans in the category of contemporary instrumental music with over 200 competitors from all over the nation.
 First place winner of the Central Florida Jazz Society competition in 2001 and 2004.

David Stewart has performed in many places including, but not limited to, Avery Fisher Hall in New York, Barnes and Noble bookstore, Baywalk in St. Petersburg, FL, Churchill Grounds in Atlanta, GA, Clearwater Jazz Festival (FL), Dizzy Gillespie''s Coca Cola Club in New York City, Fort Lauderdale Jazz Festival (FL), Harpos in Tampa, FL, Heidie''s jazz club in Cocoa Beach, FL, House of Blues in Orlando, FL, many Jack and Jill Co. events, Lakeridge Winery in Orlando, FL, Largo Cultural Center (FL), Ms. BCC Pageant, Pop City in Tampa, FL, Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, FL, Ruth''s Chris in Tampa, FL, San Sebastian Winery in St. Augustine, FL, Sarasota Jazz Festival (FL), Sea Island Beach Resort (GA), Stumps in Tampa, FL, Sweet Lorraine''s in New Orleans, LA, The Social in Orlando, FL, the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center (FL), and the Teenage Tampa pageant (FL).

Most recently, Stewart was one of twenty students in the country chosen to participate in The Disney All-Star Collegiate Band that performed the entire summer of 2004 at the Magic Kingdom. On July 31 and August 1 of the same year, he was a featured performer for the ESPN "The Weekend" at MGM Studios.

Stewart has performed with Maurice Allen, Leon Anderson Jr., Kevin Bales, Bombed Out Cats, the Beautiful Bobby Blackman, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Ernie Calhoun, Javen Campbell, Jeff Clayton, Ernest Collins, Buster Cooper, Eric Darius, Richard Drexler, Robert Griffin, Bob Grouso, Russell Gunn, Marcus Hampton, Fred Johnson, Rodney Jordan, Roger King, Sonny LaRosa, Nu Soul, Mark Payne, Jeremy Powell, Marcus Printup, Sam Rivers, Theo Valentine, Thin Man Watts, Charles Wilson III, Scott Wilson, and Belinda Womack. He also opened for Craig Chaquico.

David Stewart, Dayve Stewart, The Soulman released his first album "Feel Me" on July 20, 2005 in Tallahassee, FL.
