ROCK: Folk Rock, FOLK: Folk Pop

Details:
East of Eden is the debut album for singer-songwriter Drew Dillhunt. Recorded on 4-track at creamsicle studios, this folk-rock album chronicles the rocky journey that is your twenties.

The album features solid vocals and intelligent lyrics with moods ranging from angry to blissful. Percussive acoustic guitar is punctuated by well-crafted melodies, finely tuned harmonies, and the occasional electric guitar.

Mixed by Chad Benson (aka Quinn W. Shagbark) and mastered by Jim McCabe of Estocar, Benson also makes a cameo slide guitar appearance on the tune "Important Calls". Benson and McCabe help to create a subtle fusion of the warm analog sounds from Drew''s original recordings and the effects added during the mixing process.

Born and raised in Madison, WI, Drew is the son of well known Wisconsin poet CX Dillhunt. Drew and CX published a poetry chapbook together in 1995 titled "Double Six".

Drew''s grandfather, Larry Dillhunt, played the piano, and the ukulele. He was an accomplished composer and made sure that music was a central part of the lives of all 12 of his children. When they became interested in rock and roll, he bought a guitar and learned how to play so that he could teach them.

As a result, Drew''s first experiences with musicians came from his own family. His uncle Mike was the guitar player in his band Fat Mike and the Blue Cats, a Green Bay based blues band. His uncle Pat played guitar for a local polka band in the same city, and his uncle David was an accomplished singer/songwriter.

Drew began his own musical career by playing the piano. Shortly after, he began to play bass in orchestra, and then to sing in choirs. Eventually he studied music and voice at Washington University in St. Louis (along with a more practical degree in biology). While in St. Louis, he began to sing and arrange for The Pikers, with whom he recorded two albums.

Drew currently makes a living by teaching choir and biology at Franklin High School in Seattle, WA.
