SAXOPHONIST TURNS DOWN FOUR ALBUM DEAL
WITH MAJOR LABEL TO ‘GO IT ALONE’
Christian Forshaw’s debut album Sanctuary (QTZ2009) reached No.1 in both the https://www.tradebit.com

Classical Chart and New Zealand’s Concert FM charts. The track Mortal Flesh has been a favourite on Classic FM for over two years, and more recently Down Ampney on BBC Radio 2. Tracks have also been played on BBC Radio 3 and BBC 1 TV as well as numerous local radio stations. By starting his own record label Forshaw believes that he is giving priority to his artistic integrity and development over commercial factors.

Renouncement contains more spellbinding arrangements of hymns with soaring saxophone solos and haunting soundscapes with the intimate and haunting vocals of soprano Grace Davidson (The Sixteen and Monteverdi Choir). The tracks include Forshaw’s setting of Alice Meynell’s sonnet Renouncement and the Songs of Sadness and Piety by Gary Carpenter, winner of the 2006 British Composer Award
chamber category, who adds a colourful edge to the album.

Forshaw previewed the album on a live UK tour in 2006 including Bristol Cathedral and London’s St Martin-in-the-Fields. His arrangement of Hereford has already received airplay on both Classic FM and BBC Radio 2.

Following the success of his best-selling debut album Sanctuary, Christian Forshaw has launched his own label, IntegraRecordsUK
to release his long-awaited second album Renouncement.
