DREAM

Four musicians from up North have come together in Los Angeles to form a band and share a dream. Canadians Doug Heffernan and Dan Nelles joined Oregonians Steve Giles and Paul Calder in the summer of 2003, and soon they had started writing and recording their own brand of powerful, hook-driven, modern rock music. By the early summer of 2004 their self-produced debut record Closest Line Theory was complete and ready for release. The dream had begun.

LIFE

Before the pieces were all in place, various members had crossed paths and worked together on previous projects. Doug (vocals and guitars) and Steve (bass and backing vocals) had been writing together for a while and had landed a record deal with major distribution in the late 90''s. When the label mishandled it''s financial backing and collapsed just two weeks after the bands record was released, everything fell apart. But the two held strong, worked up some new material and started all over again. When the time came to put together a new band, they realized they needed a 2nd guitarist to fill out their sound. Both had worked with Paul before and knew that he would be a perfect fit. In addition to locking in musically, Paul''s role as producer and engineer were also extremely key when the time came to record the bands debut record. As a world-class editor for prime time television and feature films, his digital editing skills were critical in capturing the definitive sound of DLM in the studio. The last piece of the puzzle was finding the right drummer. After jamming with several of LA''s best players, they finally came across Toronto import Dan Nelles and everything clicked. The chemistry between the four of them was immediate and with the lineup complete the music came roaring to life.

MISERY

Fully prepared for the long, grueling haul to the top, DLM has dedicated themselves to putting in the hard work it takes to achieve success on their own terms. With the recording of Closest Line Theory complete, they are now prepared to take their huge, radio-friendly sound to the stages of Southern California and beyond. Their immediate sights are set on various regional markets along the West Coast from San Diego all the way up to Vancouver. "Who wouldn''t want to trade in their everyday problems for the miseries of the hugely successful," says Heffernan.
