Don’t worry. Relax. You can do all your worrying from the time something goes wrong until you hit the ground.

Crack your knuckles as loudly as possible. Never mind if it annoys the passenger sitting next to you. Hopefully, you’ll arrive at your destination with some knuckles still in one piece.

If you get nervous or frightened, take deep breaths and wiggle your toes back and forth; also, intermediately tightly curve toes down and hold for a second or two. Keep doing this exercise. You’ll be surprised to find yourself relaxing and less fearful. I believe there is some type of connection between brain and toes, perhaps because you’re concentrating on this activity and not the flying. This exercise worked for me.

Be entertained: Indulge in a work of fiction: A book you have brought with you that’s so good you can’t put it down, or a film supplied by the airline are good ways to pass the time. When you are engaged in some entertaining reading or viewing material, the hours just seem to slip by.

If you haven’t boarded the airplane at least 10-15 minutes before flight is scheduled to depart the airline has the right to give your seat to a stand-by passenger.

If you’ve been in a boat you know that water has waves and sometimes can be rough and choppy. The same physics applies when an airplane flies through rough or choppy air; air is matter just like water.

Imagine yourself being in a beautiful, blue ocean bubble, but it’s a bubble of air, not water; you’re not going to sink to the bottom.

Lets buzz the Taj Mahal:

. . . .On one journey the flight plan’s route was directly over the Taj Mahal. Lee and his copilot impatiently waited while the Indian ground crew packed the aircraft with huge heaps of cargo from top to bottom.

Lee and the copilot didn’t do a “weight and balance” tally of the airplane or check the cargo load before take-off. Once airborne they quickly realized the aircraft was over-gross as it headed dead-on for the roof of the Taj Mahal!. . . .
