"She doesn''t just sing, she ministers . . . and through her ministry God calms troubled waters, opens locked hearts, mends broken spirits, and destroys yokes!" Time after time words similar to these have been spoken about Doreen Vail, a truly anointed gospel psalmist to whom God has given a ministry of comfort . . . a woman of God who "sets the atmosphere for praise and worship and the word of God" through her gift of song.
Doreen is a dynamic singer who has released an extraordinary debut project entitled "Reflections Of A Yielded Vessel". Her powerful yet angelic voice is distinctly and refreshingly unique. The variety of songs on this project certainly provide something for everyone, and the project may be best described if we coin a new term . . . "gospirationary" . . . a unique blend of gospel, spiritual, inspirational, and contemporary melodies from Heaven.
"To whom much is given, much is required." God has smiled on Doreen an awesome gift - the anointing to sing. Now, what is required of her is to share this gift and word from the Lord to reach the people whose hearts He has opened to receive her song. She states, "Ministry chose me, I didn''t choose it. But through my love for Christ and His love for me, I yielded to the call." She sang her first solo at Refuge Temple Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in New York at the age of 9. She has been blessed to minister in song regularly at her previous church home, Free Gospel Deliverance Temple in Coral Hills, Maryland. She has since relocated to Baltimore, Maryland and is now a member of Bethel AME Church.
Doreen has sung and appeared on many venues, spreading the
good news and comforting spirit of God through song. She has been honored to minister in services with Donnie McClurkin, Tramaine Hawkins, Angella Christie, the Williams Brothers, Maurette Brown-Clark, Bishop Paul Morton, Vicki Yohe, Marvin Sapp, Beverly Crawford, Timothy Wright, John P. Kee, Mom Winans, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Lynette Hawkins-Stephens, and Angela Spivey, to name a few.
But the greatest honor and blessing is witnessing Christ move through her song into the hearts of the hurting and those who do not know Him as their Savior. She believes in service and ministry, not entertainment. A yoke should be destroyed, a soul comforted or saved. She prays that she touches someone''s life daily . . . through a touch, through a word, through a song. The Lord has blessed her to minister to the sick, help to comfort the dying, and support their loved ones, all while lifting up the name of Jesus. Doreen was nicknamed "The Songbird" by hospital patients and staff.
