Spawned from the booming metropolis of Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania, once a vast stretch of farmland, now home to one of the many shopping Mecca''s of the Pennsylvania suburbs, lead singer and longest running member of American Nightmare Rod Sellers has etched his name into the callous surface of Philadelphia''s local music scene.
Spurring the interest of local music fans and venues, Rod has been pushing American Nightmare''s brand of original music through the gluttony of the local music scene with bold determination and a commitment to deliver strong songs with catchy hooks and dark lyrics.
Joining Rod in the early days, drummer Max Power was the perfect compliment to Rod''s laid back, not a care in the world, playing style. Max provides the horsepower for the band and has been quoted as saying. "Without me, Rod would be just another sissy with an acoustic guitar." The truth to that has never been confirmed and probably isn''t true, but you don''t want to read the same old boring band bio bullshit anyway.
Rounding out the core of musical genius (we use that term loosely) is bass player Tony (Murphy) Bevilacqua. Murphy''s reckless plundering of four strings is responsible for keeping this black box contrivance we call American Nightmare aloft. Contrary to popular opinion, Murphy has no relation to the popular catholic cardinal who shares the same last name; however he does one day aspire to drive the Pope Mobile.
As a 3 piece, American Nightmare had been playing local bars and Philadelphia venues like the Grape Street, the North Star and the Pontiac, and opening shows for bands like the Misfits, Exene Cervenka, Guitar Wolf, Hazil Atkins, and Link Wray.
After playing shows for about 2 years to support the self release of there first recording, American Nightmare decided it was time to record a dozen new songs and enlisted the help of local musician and engineer Jared Little to help with recording process. During this process Jared somehow weaseled his way into the band and has been playing lead guitar with them ever since.
With the new line up in place and the new material recorded, American Nightmare continues its journey playing live shows throughout the region, writing new music, and building its fan base, one show at a time. Committed to doing things for the right reasons, American Nightmare will continue on playing packed houses filled with Pagans, Warlocks, local drunks, and good friends. By the way, did I mention that we have AK-47s...
