Details:
Del Noah and the Mt. Ararat Finks was formed out of the belief that original songs could still be written and performed in the hot rod and surf vocal music genre without strictly rewriting the masters. The band was named from the theory (put forth by a number of scolars) that Noah invented surf and hot rod culture with his supercharged ark. Concepted in 1990, organized in 1991 and first gigged in 1992, Del Noah''s lineup includes Brent (Pivot Foots, Baker Brothers, nowadays theFleagles, the Henpeckers) on vocals/guitar, Vince (El Grupo Sexo, Bazooka, since then more groups than you can shake a stick at including the likes of Mike Watt and Carlos Guitarlos, and currently Downbeats, Atomic Sherpas, Ghidorah) on sax, Blair Walker(Pivot Foots, Corn Doggy Dog, many others) and Mudd (LBC punk pioneers the Falling Idols, Gluefactory, Indonesian Mules, and many others) initially, then Blair moved to guitar/keyboards and Eric (Sublime, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Long Beach Shortbus) joined on bass. The five-man electrical lineup put out the 1998 CD "Blower Explosion!" on Skunk featuring songs such as "Amish Drag Buggy" and "Sasquatch on a Snowmobile." Both of those had cover art by the great Shag. Many other comps have included Del Noah cuts (including Shots in the Dark, Hot Rods to Hell Vol. 2, many others), and there will be another new Del Noah CD some time soon, featuring "Mini Bike Jamboree," "The Lonely Bultaco" and other newer songs.
