Details:
He has the romanticism of the crooner. The boyish good looks of a classic, golden-era matinee idol. The true passion, heart, soul and vision of the renegade artist. But it’s his highly distinctive, smooth as silk, vocal style that truly defines him. He’s Johnny Boyd – and he’s back. And like Frank, he does it his way.

Long-acclaimed as one of the most versatile vocal performers of today, Boyd seamlessly blends his thoroughly modern, yet retro-influenced sound of swing, jazz, pop, country, gospel and rock, bringing back the nostalgic charisma of a bygone era, while taking risks with his arrangements that truly show confidence in his talent. It’s been eight years, but the former Indigo Swing frontman noted for his timeless optimism hasn’t missed a beat. The highly prolific singer/songwriter and resident road dog, known for his intense work ethic (300 + gigs a year throughout the U.S. and Europe), can still move an audience from smiles-to-tears, in one sitting. With over 1,100 consecutive live performances to Boyd’s credit, nearly 200,000 Indigo Swing records sold, and thousands of loyal and devoted fans worldwide, he is now gearing up for more.

Boyd, who left his band to re-charge and pursue a solo career, will release a special holiday EP entitled “StarLight” featuring “Palace Hotel” and a rendition of “Angie’s Song (Baby, Don’t You Know?)”, prior to embarking on a holiday tour this December. The ace performer also heads to New York this October for CMJ Music Marathon, as an industry spokesperson on the United States of Americana panel, and he will also perform at a special industry showcase called “Cocktails with the Crooner,” at the Top of the Tower at the Beekman Hotel. Additionally, he will perform at the official closing night party of the Americana Music Conference this year.

But come March 2008, Johnny Boyd fans need wait no longer. It marks the much anticipated release of his full-length recording Never Been Blue on Cliffdive Records. Boyd will debut several songs from his forthcoming release at the “Cocktails with the Crooner” event and throughout his holiday tour, including “Palace Hotel” and fan favorite “Angie’s Song (Baby, Don’t You Know?)”. His most recent work finds him flexing his musical muscle and moving beyond territory he explored with Indigo Swing, while staying true to his roots.

Comments Boyd: “I’m a romantic. My songs have always involved romantic themes about everyday life. Dreams, disappointments and sacrifices, brimming with honesty and hope for better days.”

Perhaps critic Chris Jorgensen best sums up Boyd’s appeal: “In the hands of lesser talent, it would have felt like a novelty. But Boyd clearly loves each song he performs, and he reinforces the old musical maxim that no matter how strange the music seems, if it feels good, it is good.”

Yes, Johnny Boyd is back.
