Details:
AN ALEUT LULLABY is due for release December 1,2007. It is a 50+ minute collection of classic jazz greats sung as lullabies, including Nature Boy, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Hushabye Mountain, Thad Jones'' A Child Is Born. Lybeck Originals Morning Smile, Angel''s Lullaby , Baby''s Gonna Fly and the "Aang Aang Song" are both tender and surprising. Never before recorded songs such as Brahm''s Lullaby sung in the Aleut (Unangan Tunuu) language is getting people talking already, as well as the children''s piece "Aang Aang Song" sung with a choir of island children. A CD you can rock your golden child to sleep with, or play in your car or office, this CD reaches the taste of all ages. Recorded in the wild frontier of Alaska''s Aleutian Islands on a new Yamaha C7 concert grand, and produced by Scott Hyble and Northstar Productions, this exquisite collection is one well worth waiting for.

Lynda Lybeck is a Northwest Native who once established a strong reputation as one of the leading pianist/vocalists composers in the Northwest adult contemporary easy listening music scene before falling in love with the gritty beauty of the Aleutian islands- and staying there.

Her piano chops reflect a rich history of influences. Years of performing as a pianist, vocalist and arranger for vocal jazz groups, music theater, and serious classical music have influenced her music. What results is a diverse and pleasing mix of jazzy pop and oldies, added to her repertoire of rich, classically oriented original compositions.

As a performer, Lynda has performed as a solo pianist and pianist/vocalist in Norway, Japan, Turkey, and the Western United States from Albuquerque to Seattle, including stints in Hawaii and Dutch Harbor, Alaska. As a composer, her credits include a movie score for “Cartwheel”, an art film directed by Scott Jackman, “Flowers” directed by John Day, and several commercial spots.

Lynda Lybeck married in 2002, and, with her husband, is raising their two sons in Unalaska/Dutch Harbor in the Aleutians off the coast of Alaska. Most fans of Discovery Channel''s "Deadliest Catch" know the Aleutians as the home of one of the most dangerous careers in the world- commercial fishing. Well, here''s a gentler side of this surprising community- music made right there. Lybeck''s main gig is teaching piano lessons to over 10% of the school population, which she calls "the best gig in the world". Check out the CD series "Hearts and Hands" which features the compositions of her students.
