Details:
I have always wanted to be free to invent and to create impressions and visions in music.
Along my own varied paths as a musician and flutist I have mostly focused on performance with occasional stretches into composing. As a flutist I have had the honor of studying with some wonderful musicians: Paul Renzi of the San Francisco Symphony; Lawrence Duckles of the University of California; Gary E. Gray of the Oakland Symphony; Monsieur Pierre Cazaux of the Conservatoire Nationale in France; violinist Maurice Bourg in Oregon; and Bill Douglas of the Naropa University, Boulder, Colorado. In the Boulder area, I have performed with the Classical Aire Trio: flute, viola, bassoon. Among Classical Aire''s performances have been some children''s programs with music I composed to accompany stories, poems, and dances. I have also had the honor to have played on the albums of Bill Douglas, composer/pianist, on the Hearts of Space label. Playing Bill Douglas’ beautiful music gave me the inspiration to try some recording myself. With the help of my husband Ralph Cuellar, a guitarist, we produced a first album, ‘On the Wing.’ Newly released are two new CDs,
''Branching Out'' and ''Gifts and Celebrations,'' which feature my new compositions and arrangements for flute and friends including harp, piano, oud, voice, bassoon, bass, and percussion.
