Aisha Raine is striving to shake up the world of alt/rock. With females a rarity, she works hard to fight criticism and societal expectations and believes that, “Music is something you feel in your soul and you can express yourself anyway you love and know how.”
In the beginning of her musical trek, people tried to get her to stick to the style of music that is expected of her race and gender. But Aisha strived to be herself, often having to go against the grain and expectations. She decided to stick to what is true to her and a style that embraces her edge, truth, and heart.
A few years, trials, tribulations, and set backs later, Aisha is ready to release her debut CD, Never Broken. The title “represents my soul. There may be cracks and scars, but I’m still here. Still striving to do what I believe. Still full of my own ideas and dreams. I’m still me.” The albums 11 tracks are excerpts from her life that helped create who she is today.
Influenced by Linkin Park, Breaking Benjamin, Evanescence, and P!nk, to name a few, Aisha’s Never Broken expresses her love of music and acts as a salute to the artists and styles that have driven her. By thinking outside the box, being willing to make things happen when fate would have it another way, and her strength to never give up her dreams, Aisha is telling her story her way. “I’m ripping out pages in my life and putting them on display. I just want my music to do for others what it does for me. Music gives me a release, a way to connect and realize that I’m not alone in my life struggles. A lot of times just knowing that is enough to calm the wildest rage inside. I hope my album can connect to the masses and continue the support that music, of many genres, has given me my entire life.”
With making music her way, Aisha has made her own path. “Will you take a walk with me?”
