Guaranteed Funny 101 Totally Clean Jokes ? Got to admit, I was skeptical. 101 funny jokes and 101 clean jokes on one cd? It sounded like a gimmick. It is not. This is a really cool and very funny comedy cd. All clean jokes, all funny jokes (some more than others but not one bad) by Bob Alper, a guy who knows how to tell a joke. This is as good, if not better than, the annual joke show Garrison Keillor puts together for Prairie Home Companion. Guaranteed Funny 101 Totally Clean Jokes uses the same basic format as the annual Garrison Keillor joke show with the exception there is not a single mean or demeaning or put-down style joke and Bob Alper does it solo. You get the guy walks into a bar joke, the a priest, a rabbi, a minister joke, parrot jokes, jokes about jobs, jokes about seniors, etc.
My second fear was Guaranteed Funny 101 Totally Clean Jokes was some self-produced comedy cd where some guy tells jokes to an empty room or reads them out of a joke book. This is not the case. This is a live performance in front of a live audience. The “feel” of this comedy cd is different from many other solid comedy cds I have: Is it because the audience doesn’t sound like it is in a club somewhere but in a more intimate surrounding? Is it that Bob Alper’s delivery is that of a seasoned stand up comic his voice isn’t that of a club comic? Is it that the sound quality is so good you have the impression Bob Alper is right there next to you? I do not know. However he did it Bob Alper has put together a really great collection of clean jokes and funny jokes you can tell anyone anywhere. Are there 101 jokes on this cd? Well, hey, the guy’s also a rabbi: he wouldn’t lie to you.
Here’s a neat example of a Bob Alper clean joke. A grasshopper walks into a bar. The barman says, “Hey, did you know we have a drink named after you?” The grasshopper says, “You have a drink called Maurice?” If you have heard this one, there are 100 more to choose from.
There are nowadays a lot of so-called instructional how to be a comedian cds out there. Don’t bother. Listen to Guaranteed Funny 101 Totally Clean Jokes a few times and you will learn a lot. Bob Alper can tell a very simple clean joke and make it work and he can then tell a longer, more elaborate funny joke and make it work. If you have problems telling a joke, don’t know a funny joke or a clean joke you can tell at the office, or couldn’t remember a joke if your life depended on it, listen to this cd. Learn some of the jokes by heart, listen to the way Bob Alper tells the joke and copy it: Everybody at the office or on the team will think you are a funny guy. If you just like to drive around with the family and laugh together while listening to something everybody can enjoy and have fun with, get this cd. They are Guaranteed Funny 101 Totally Clean Jokes.
