SYNOPSIS of SONGS
“(How Much) I Love You” – A sweet sing-along song, and a favorite with moms, this is an expression of love that we can sing to others and to ourselves. You can write your own verse lyrics and sing along to the final track of the album, an instrumental version.
“Becky Was A Bird” – The favored track on the album! Kids learn how to have more fun as they start the day, just like Becky, who pretends she is a bird. Pick your feathers (clothing outfit), brush your beak (teeth), and peck (kiss) your mommy on the cheek while you get ready in the morning.
“Keep Goin’” – Another fave, this track helps kids remember to relax while they work and play. A frustrated child is setting up his train track, when it breaks. He asks for help, and his Dad suggests that he take a deep breath while he works.
“A Little Magic” – This is a groovy song about using your imagination to improve an unsavory situation. When you don’t want to eat your veggies or stand in line, use your magical imagination to find a way to enjoy it.
“I’m A Helicopter” – Kids love to move the furniture to the walls and spin around the living room to this fast and furious tune. And don’t forget the safety landing…slow down so you don’t have to crash!
“Icy Cold Lemonade” – This story takes you from your idea of turning something sour into something sweet, all the way through to sharing your lemonade. It’s affirming message uses lyrics that allow kids to take pride in what they share with others.
“I Paint a Rainbow” – Denise’s personal favorite, “Rainbow” reminds us that we have the power to make a rainbow in our hearts, even when the rainstorm is out of our control. We can all rise above our life situations and feel happy.
“Row Your Boat” – Get on outside and move around. Exercise and play is an essential part of each day. You can make up your own verse to the tune of this old favorite, and motivate yourself to MOVE.
“I Love to Share” – With fellow songwriter, Debi Derryberry, Denise has written a song that helps us remember that we care for others, which helps us share more readily.
“Sally O’Malley’s Lunchbox” – Like “The House That Jack Built”, this sequencing story is a fun challenge, with sound effects for each character. It finishes with a message about being gracious, and ending up with something better than what we start with.
“Good-bye, My Friend” – This sweet and soothing song helps us with the bittersweet time of saying “good-bye”. The harmonies and haunting piano figure make for a lulling listen.
“(How Much) I Love You” – Ahh, the final track is one that allows you to write your own verses. Follow the example from the first track, and personally express how much you love someone close to you. It can be a work-in-progress, one verse at a time, so don’t expect perfection on your first try. Parents, grandparents, caregivers, aunts and uncles will have fun writing with their young loved ones, and then singing along karaoke-style!
