Details:
If positive thinking has anything to do with anything, Eric Hancock just might carve himself a niche as music’s first true Renaissance man. Just 33years old, this “yes, I can” jack-of-all-functions has already compiled a respectable list of creative achievements that includes picking songs, singing, recording, and even producing records —

All in all, a pretty healthy track record–especially for one who’s virtually unknown in mainstream country music. And it hasn’t been done with smoke and mirrors, either. However large or small one might view his accomplishments, they’ve been the product of a whole lot of focused effort—effort infused with unfettered self-assurance, nurtured by the vital support team headed up by father Phil, and sustained by an unabashed faith in powers beyond his own.

Born in Ogden, Utah, Hancock grew up in West Weber (pronounced Weeber) surrounded by four sisters. Bolstered by early “informal” training, he took his vocal chords public immediately upon entering school, signing up for choir and musical plays, and the like. Having determined that music was the stuff upon which he would build his future career, he enlisted for further musical training, this time taking a year of voice lessons.

At age 20, Hancock began recording for Peak Records, the resultant album received a warm reception from radio, as evidenced by a respectable amount of airplay in the U.S. and in Europe. With the release of a single from the album—“Eyes Never Lie”—Eric was soon the subject of dozens of radio interviews (and lots more airplay), on both sides of the Atlantic. That single was destined to receive mainstream recognition, and in September, 1995 it broke into the Gavin Report, one of the music industry’s most respected trade journals, among the top album cuts reported by country radio stations.

The result was an immediate increase in live performance dates, and 1996 he found himself at Fan Fair in Nashville, signing autographs. While in Music City at the time, he went back into the studio, this time with successful Nashville producer Nelson Larkin at the helm, and came up with four new sides.

In addition to his work in the studio, he began opening concerts for some of country music’s hottest new stars, including Kenny Chesney, Collin Raye, Darryl Singletary, and Big House, and eventually going on to headline his own yearly Christmas concerts entitled: eric hancock presents…A Christmas To Remember.

In 1997, in an ongoing effort to broaden his experience of the entertainment field Eric spent several months commuting back and forth to Los Angeles, where he studied acting.

In 1998 he recorded another LP—this time a Christmas album, featuring duets with popular area artists Becky Williams and Brenn Hill. The LP “Labor of Love” followed in 2000.

Yet, with all that’s already under his belt, Eric isn’t all that impressed with himself. In autumn of 2000 Eric decided to put his music career on hold and pursue a college degree in accounting; making a promise to return to the stage once he has accomplished his educational goals. Eric graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from the University of Phoenix in September 2005 and is now putting his sights on the entertainment business and following his dream once again.

When asked about what the future holds for him, he replies; “I am a lot older and hopefully a bit wiser this time ‘round. I am going to spread my wings as far and wide as they can reach.”
