The story of LEILOLAI is ever changing, but let''s start somewhere in the beginning. They met a year ago while surfing myspace artists, impressed by each other’s music they started to talk and trade ideas. After some time they decided they should meet and see what would happen. Dutch producer and artist YOGISP met with vocalist/artist CHRISTINA CÁCERES. They decided that Brooklyn, New York would be a good place to meet. Shortly after they shared their space.... and began to collaborate.
They now have a cross Atlantic meeting of minds... An Indonesian guy from ''liquoriceland'' Holland meets a Puerto Rican chick from New York City.
After lots of debates, lots of arguments, lots of fights, cultural clashes and exploration of NY, getting lost daily they finally began to get inspired. They decided to push each others buttons and limits; all they had was a Mac Book Pro, 2 condenser mics each $29, a Hofner fiddle bass, kitchen drums and the first digital Canon photo camera for shooting interesting quality videos. They came up with this sound. A unique, creative, noisy, emotional, penetrating, artistic, alternative sound sometimes sounding like your neighbors next door, who are arguing and partying all night, or thoughts inside your head exploding out into music.
**** Their self titled album LEILOLAI "Best of" is out released this fall 2007!**** With new songs in the making, and moving in a different direction as well, no one never knows, including themselves, where YOGISP and CHRISTINA will take you!
