Details:
This project spans the years between 1982 and 1991. I wrote the first of these songs as poems even earlier, some date back to 1976. My fist band was an Irish Folk group. My brothers and I played the music of Ireland but when I heard the Beatles I tried to learn everything I could from them.

Every year my goal was to write a new song, and by 1980 I had begun to set songs down, my first copyright was sent on cassette tape to the Library of Congress in 1982. Simple guitar and vocal melodies were the outlines for this work. By the time I was a better player I had found so many more musical forms to experiment with that I gave the Irish folk music a rest and blues took over my life.

Still, I was never happy just playing someone’s idea of Eric Clapton or Wishbone Ash. The great soul music of the 60’s was also an influence and when Rap came out I even experimented with a song. I continually recorded on analog tape recordings with my producer and friend Tim Kinsella. We found a bond with a Grateful Dead vibe and I worked with him over a ten year period with every talented musician I knew in our area.

With Tim’s expertise and my basic melody outlines and words I spent every penny I earned in music to make one or two recordings per year. Working 9 to 5 and playing 9 to 1 left me little room for anything else, and I know many of my songs talk to the loss of love and the quest for love we all seem to go through, not enough time for a relationship to thrive.

The talent on this CD is the cream of our local crop in those years. Bryant Jones on Keys, Luanne Scarborough, Tim, myself on backing vocals. Kim Murley hammer dulcimer, Sandy Gort penny whistle and Linda Jackson violin, performed my tribute to Irish music on Suburban Eyes. My own voice on all the vocals is honestly my statement, there are better voices out there but I sang what I wanted on every track. I don’t know how the world will take it, but it is the real thing and sums everything I wanted to say.

As you listen to these songs, and hopefully buy them, remember a time when music was really changing. Disco was in and rock was southern, Grand master Flash was just around the corner and all I wanted to do was create something out of this crazy world.

The Songs:

Natural Mystic is for Bob Marley and John Lennon. The greatest ever!
Place Where Times Have Changed my lament for the earth and its torment.
Believe What You Want…Does love ever work out?
Alone…Love could work out?
Suburban Eyes…Do you want a suburban life?
Thinking About England…The same problems there today as they were in 1980 (and before…)
Living A Lie…Can we lie to ourselves about the world? It''s worse now than when I wrote this song, see Al Gore and tell me more…
Solid State City…I did my best with this one, Tim & I had fun with the minimal music, but the words still work…
Storm Over the Mountains…leads into my next CD release “Rely On Me” I really felt that the storm was coming for all of us that would change us forever, at least change comes to some of us like a storm.

My hopes:

I hope you will listen and enjoy, each song has a theme and I believe the words and work stand the test of time. Until I could re-master this in digital form I held it away from any publishing efforts. Now seems to be the best time to share my music with you and I hope you like it enough to come back and see me again.

Look for “Rely On Me” and “Abra La Puerta” as well.

Peace to you and all who come here, I hope we can all share the planet and friendship. If you buy my songs I promise to make more! Thanks for coming,
